I keep hearing the fact the Bears have this enormous waiting list for tickets. I hear it because they make it public.

They do so, to make sure you know someone is waiting to take your seats.

If you think the Bears want to call even 2,000 of those people you are nuts and dont know shit about business.

It is a logistic nightmare to first relocate your existing season ticket holders into better seats, then move the seats those people sat it.

EXAMPLE: Someone in section 145 has 4 tickets and they decide not to renew. Thats about $10,000 for those 4 tickets. Now you need to go down the list of existing season ticket holders that want to upgrade their seats from Section 300 as an example. They find out it's another $5000 for the better seats and they need to think about if for a day or two, then they dont call back, or they pass and you need to move on to the next person.

Then you find the one guy who wants to pay up for the extra seats and now you need to move his old seats in section 300. Well, anyone that shelled out $400 to get on the season ticket waiting list might not want seats in section 300? Happens a ton as well.

Maybe you have heard how much money it costs to retain a customer and how much it costs to get a new one?

They have computer programs that do that sort of thing now.

Seacrest you must work for some big company and not know the cost of labor.

Thanks for explaining they have these new things called computers.

The computers dont call people and say what upgrades they have.

The renewal period for any team is the busiest time of year, even those that have a very high rate of renewal. To even lose 5% of the season ticket holders, means you need to re-establish new orders with over 3,000 people.

Seacrest, you seem to have answers for everything, how many people do you think work for the Bears in ticketing? 20?

How many people do you think they will each call per day? 50? How many do you think they leave messages for? how many call back, get all the details, then need a day or two to discuss it with a husband or wife to drop another $3,000+? Then how many dont say yes to the seats, want to know what other seats they have and jsut then say 'forget it', then they need to keep calling and calling.

Do you know anyone who works in the Bears? Cubs? Wolves? Bulls? (and Sky..cough) ticket offices? and have you ever discussed this with them?

I guess all those teams then like the Bulls that go out of their way to renew season ticket holders with gifts all year and special offers are idiots and should just rely on the "Seacrest Computer Ticket Renewal Program"

to take a look at, or even sit in the seats before they
make their decision.
How much time and effort does that take?

Well, they should be able to. Its a fairly large investment. You test drive a car before you buy it. Hell, even a $20 pair of jeans you might try on before you buy them.

They do this at Wrigley as well. About 4 years ago, they took out a bunch of sections down the RF and the seats moved. They allowed people to come down to see the seats before we renewed.
My ticket rep actually lives around the corner from me and I am friednly with the guy, thats when he first explained what a pain in the ass it is renewing people and that task of taking everyone to their new seats was such a pain they hired some college kids for a month to take people to seats.

When I dumped my Bulls season tickets it was because I was in the 200 level and wanted to move down to the 100 level. They would not tell me what seats I would get or if they would do it, but they wanted my deposit.

I responded with a letter to Joe Oneil stating that they are asking me to do something that the owner of the team himself would never do.

Basically was a week of phone calls back and forth and they wouldn't give me my new seat locations, but wanted a non refundable deposit.

I ended up sharing seasoin tickets with someone who has great seats, but not only did they lose me as a season ticket holder, it took someone they paid about 10 hours over 5-7 days to get nothing back.

Funny thing is I was not aware of it either. I didn't know why all these people hated the guy. I even sent him a few PM's asking why people hated him so much or what he did? No response of course.

The PSL seats take this out of the equation. If you want to move to the 100 level, you need to buy the PSL from the current owner. The Bears cannot move you in. Non-PSL seats are the crappy ones people would want to move out of. Non-PSL season reservation holders are very limited in where they can move.

I am aware of the PSL's which I believe are 25,000 seats at Soldier Field. Thus I kept the number low at 3,000 tickets hollders whcih is about 10% of the non PSL seats.

And while the Bears do not move the PSL tickets, they do track them and their is a few paid to the Bears for transferring them. So they do work for this as well.

If not for the PSL's and they had a 10% non renewal, you can call another 6,000 people.

I go to maybe one game every 2 years. Soldier field experince really sucks compared to any other field in the NFL. I would never invest that kind of money to see 10 games a year of which 2 are fake, 1 v Detroit, 1 is going be v another shit team, leaving me 6 decent games? Plus it's freezing, sitting in crappy seats next to a dude in 4 layers of gortex

Not true - when I got my seats moved two years ago, I got a letter that said here is the proposed new seats - do you want them?

There are no phone calls and there are no walk-throughs.

I have never scalped a ticket for less than face value. Obviously you are in the minority about the experience.

Clients view giving them tickets, especially PSL seats, as a valuable investment in the relationship. Bears tickets are special beyond any tickets to any other sporting event in this city.

I agree, even with the Bears taking up residence in the Land of Suck this year, there is still a good market for tickets.

I don't sell my tickets for more than face because I always sell them to people I know. If I wanted to make money on them, it wouldn't be hard. The Steelers tickets were selling for 3x of face in my shitty section alone.

I paid for my portion of a season ticket just by selling my Cardinals tickets.

Bears games can be an absolute blast if you tailgate and don't have to work the next day.

He's giving Elmhurst Steve a race in Pudwhack of the Year. It would have been just an afterthought, but the fact that he is neck and neck with probably the most universally despised person on the board tells you all you need to know about Seacrest.
