The card with the Ivy on it, the X mas Cub Ornament and inside you have the facsimile signatures of Tom, Todd, Laura and Peter.

Fucking Douchebags!

Identify a player and sign him!

This is the kind of shit that is just pissing me off daily. The rink, the cards, the sign blockers, the troughs, signing some marketing guy, Grabow?,

HOW ABOUT A FUCKING PLAYER? I am not pushing for Byrd at all, but I know we need someone and someoen egts paid $5 mill a year to identify who the best player for us is and go get the guy.

And this "THEY WILL NOT WIN THIS YEAR ANYWAYS" is a Bullshit statement. The Divsion is BAD! Yes, The cardinals are good, but not great and they still need to sign Holliday at this point to really say they are the favorite, but right now the Cubs have a ton of high priced talent that if they play decent can carry this team to a point of contention in this divsion.

D Lee, Aramis are a nice 3,4 to start with on any team. A slight improvement from Kosuke Patterson's .375 OBP, maybe Soto came into camp in shape and not look like he toured with the Ben and Jerrys bandwagon. Theriot, can always be better, but if someone won with Eckstein, this guy is not stopping us, and the big question. Sammy Soriano.

I kow the "IF's" exist, but I would rather bet on guys having good years that have done it before compared to hoping guys who never played well have "big" years.

Do you honestly think this team has any chance of competing next year? Please answer this seriously.

D-Lee played out of his mind last season and was the only positive I saw from the team all year. He will not put up those numbers again this year. Ramirez is too hurty and will continue with what we have saw last season. Im guessing Soriano is no longer on the roids and what we saw last year is what we will see for the remaining 5 YEARS left on his deal. Zambrano took a major step back last season and I don't think he will ever be the pitcher the Cubs thought he would become. The bullpen is in shambles and was a major weak spot last season. I could see Soto bouncing back because how could he get any worse?

Signing "A guy" will do nothing for this team. They won't make the playoffs with one and won't make the playoffs without one, so why waste the money? For a guy who has made a post a day bitching about his season tickets going up in price, why would you want to waste that money away. The only person available that would make a positive impact on this team is Matt Holliday. Do you want the Cubs to take on another Soriano-like contract and be stuck with a pile of shit when the guy becomes 36? I doubt you would be willing to stomach that. This team is done. Blow it up and lets rebuild.

Shouldn't the Chicago Cubs with all that money be able to re-load like so many college teams we hear about? If you can't develop good talent, fire the minor league staff and overpay people who have proven they can do it. If you can't find the hidden gem on someone's team, fire the scouting staff and overpay people who have proven they can do it.

No, that's the point. They have a high payroll but aren't willing to buy themselves out of mistake contracts etc. Which is why bad contracts (under producing players based on what we are paying them) like Soriano/Zambrano/Bradley/Fukudome/Dempster etc are killing this team.

I tend to agree with the letting the weeds grow out theory so to speak. Play some of the kids, Fuld in center, and see where things are in July.

but this has been the M O of this team for the better part of 30 years. You grew to love this team as they continuously sold the sizzle and not the steak. The collective you have conditioned them to thinking these stupid cutesy bells and whistles are what brings you to the park.

Anyone who doesn't think the Cubs will contend this year is nuts. Print it.

The Cubs won 83 games last year. I don't think they will win more than that next season.

The Cardinals will run away with the division because of Carpenter, Wainwright, Pujols, and Holliday.

Put me in for 74. I think I had 79 last year. Frighteningly close.

D-Lee is turning 35 next season. His stats are going to start to decline.

Aramis isn't juicing anymore, that's all that needs to said about him.

Everyone the Cubs depend on that are on this roster are most likely going to take another step back.

Who gives a fuck about winning the division? I want to win the fucking world series! That's the problem with sports fans in this city. They celebrate making the playoffs. I saw some asshole wearing a Bears jacket that said "2006 NFC North Champions". You're proud of that? Go fuck a donkey asshole. It's all about winning a championship, and any thing else is a complete failure. Some asshole bought me a '98 wild card shirt for the Cubs years ago as a secret santa gift. Never wore the sumbitch, and it sat in my closet till I threw it in the bag for Amvets. He can go fuck a donkey too. [/rant]
