The Sun-Times ran the projected Cubs lineup today in the paper, and it's bad. If Fukudome is leadoff, thats bad. He has been decent in that role, but he isn't a stolen base threat, and he goes into the big slump at the half way point. Also, any lineup with Fontenot in it, isn't very good. Still trying to figure out why they're bringing him back. He proved last season that hes not a everyday player.

I couldn't find it on Sun Times' page, so I'm guessing here:

Fukodome RF
Theriot SS
Lee 1B
Ramirez 3B
Byrd CF
Soriano LF
Soto C
Fontenot 2b

On paper, it doesn't look very good for manufacturing runs. Byrd in the 5 hole is not really an exceptional contact or RBI guy, Soriano looks like a rally killer in the 6 spot, and nobody outside of 2-3-4 seems suited to hit in their respective slot. I'm guessing if they get off to a slow start, you're going to see Soriano leading off again, and a lot of Baker. If Lee or Ramairez go down, look out....

This isn't going to be a good year.

The upside is maybe the Cubs will hire an actual Major League general manager.

I'm going to give Lou some credit on this one. I don't think, barring big-time injuries, Soraino will lead off. Lou pretty much said so last year.

I wish they'd make an upgrade at 2nd. I think [silvyvoice/]"Pocket Rocket"[silvyvoice] is a fine player, as a backup. If they could upgrade here, they could put Soriano in the 8-hole where he belongs.

If they do not make any more moves, I think you will see Baker starting at 2nd and not Fontenot

These fucking guys are gonna blow. I wouldn't let Hendry go to the store and buy a fucking loaf of bread, let alone a goddamn centerfielder. Once again, he has assembled a dysfunctional 25 man roster. Who's gonna lead off? Who's gonna play second? He is baseball clueless.
Why is this boob still the GM? Ricketts needs to clean house. What do you do when you buy an old house that needs updates? You fucking gut it. This house needs gutting.

wrong, reason. thats the problem. they ARENT going to blow. if they blew, it would benefit all cubs fans, because then it would be a no-brainer to unload the current guys and rebuild. no, they are going to "contend" in this central, just enough so they wont do what they should before it is too late, and who knows? they might add another "key ingredient" before the deadline to appease the fans who are all excited about the big byrd signing and try and patchwork their way to another "division title". its a sick cycle.
