Apparently all of the assistant coaches were sent home & Lovie remains in meetings at Halas hall.
Is it possible that the Bears are negotiating a buyout of Lovies contract?

I'd say the most likely situation is that they are figuring out which assistants are going to be fired. No need for them to be there for that.

However, if Lovie refuses to fire them then things may change.

I would tend to agree with Rick on this one. No reason to get your hopes up about Lovie.

Now Zach reports that the media was kicked out of Halas hall at 1:00 today.

If that is the case that is unfortunate because Lovie is the problem. I was hoping that Angelo would throw Lovie under the bus.

Zach Zaidman is a fucking idiot. He is on right now talking about how all the Bears players want Lovie back as head coach. Zack...you fucking moron...if a bunch of reporters shoved a microphone in your face & asked you if Mitch Rosen should return as WSCR program director, WTF would you say???
Every player says their coach should be back because if he is they want to play.
Bernsy thinks Zack is a dick.

Here's the latest on Marshall...who is a restricted free agent.

Marshall cleaned out his Broncos locker & removed him name tag today.

News: Marshall (hamstring) may have played his last game as a Bronco, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Spin: If there's a team willing to part with first- and third-round draft picks during the offseason, it's possible that the Broncos will tender him a contract as a restricted free agent and simply let him go in exchange for the draft pick compensation if another club signs him to an offer sheet, rather than exercising their right to match the deal.

Terry is referencing his "guy" again claiming that Lovie may be fired. No shit. You've got a 50/50 chance TB.

Any team that gives up a first and a third round pick for Marshall would be making a huge mistake.

If Marshall has been this much of a problem through his first contract imagine how bad he will be when he has a huge payday?

Brandon Marshall is great on the field. It's too bad you also get him off the field.

Not sure what this meant, but Lovie has 2 yrs. left on his deal, the current CBA has 1 yr. left, so he's got a year longer than the current CBA already.

As of right now there wont be a 2011 NFL season. If that's the case, why would the Bears pay TWO coaches not to coach? Coach's contracts are guaranteed

I want them both gone, but a new coach would be a start & if that new coach is Cowher, there is no doubt in my mind that he would ultimately win out in a power struggle with Angelo.
Having said that, I want to hear that there is a press conference scheduled with one of the McCaskeys, which would certainly signal the end of this entire fucked up regime. Paying out $11 Million to Lovie Smith is chump change for the Bears, especially since the Bears franchise value has probably gone down by at least this amount in the last couple of years.
Once again, release Tommie Harris & use his $10 Million salary for next year to pay off Lovie's contract & the Bears nearly break even.

Where are you getting these franchise value figures? I call bullshit.

Scorehead should hire The Wiz to fact-check for him

Scorehead, what are your issues with Lovie?

Do you give him any credit for the Super Bowl appearance?

Yeah I get that, but even if there was a CBA in place beyond 2010 and Lovie was fired, they'd still be paying 2 coaches for 2 more years.

Either way, I think we agree that the Bears are not likely to pay two high salaries for two more years.

Brandon Marshall is more likely to be Plaxico Burress rather than Randy Moss.

Marshall has had a ton of off the field problems. Take a look at the past 12 months for him. If that is what he does in a contract year what does that mean for when he's financially set?

Yeah we agree on that. I was just saying paying two coaches is bad enough, paying two not to coach in the same season even adds to the likelyhood that money will factor into their decision more than football.

I cant find the 2010 numbers but he is 2 years into a 4 year $40 Million contract.

i dunno exactly what it is, but his bonus in 2009 was like $6.6mil versus a 2010 bonus of $2.6. base salary should be the same.

Seldom right and wrong again Scorehead.

Teams dont often look at coaching salaries and players salaries anyway. Two separate things.

6/19/2008: Signed a four-year, $40 million contract extension through 2012. The deal contains $18 million guaranteed, including a $6.5 million signing bonus and a $3.5 million roster bonus in the first year. Another $2 million is available through incentives. 2009: $620,000 (+ $6.67 million roster bonus due 2/27), 2010: $1.235 million (+ $2.5 million roster bonus due in June), 2011: $2.3125 million, 2012: $2.5 million, 2013: Free Agent. Cap charge: $9.09 million (2009).

If you dumped Harris, you would have to accelerate his signing bonus in that season so he would have an additional 4.8M tacked onto the 1.2 base so while it's not a 10M cap hit, it would be 6M.
