Here is what happened according to my peeps: Angelo made Lovie an offer of keeping his job BUT accepting 2 handpicked co-ordinators. Lovie being a proud man chose to resign and a buyout was negotiated.

(NOTE: My peeps are Terry's chimps led by the dreaded,Bruno!)

Lovie remains. Maybe they'll promote Taub? Maybe that sounds stupid, but seems like the best internal option obviously. It's probably not realistic to think a defensive coordinator can really drastically alter the defense with Lovie around

No thank you. He's a damn good ST teams coach, and may even make a good head coach some day, but this is not a move you make. Not with this background:

Angelo will say that Lovie deserves a chance to right the ship. Nevermind that he has had the last couple of years to do this & failed.
Rod Marinelli will be introduced as the new Defensive Coordinator.
Ron Turner has decided to leave to persue other opportunities.
An immediate search will begin for an Offensive Coordinator, which will ultimately end up being Mike Martz.
I hope I am wrong & they clean house.

Actually I think Drake is the only offensive coach that should be safe. The overall development of the WRs this year was one of the very few bright spots for the '09 Bears.
