The best analogies I've heard this week have come from Hampton. He said something about crap through a goose on Sunday and a fat kid will never tell his mom to stop baking him cakes yesterday.

Everyone comes back except Pep Hamilton and Harry Heistand.

I have supported Lovie in the past, but with a Bill Cowher sitting out there and your coach has not seen a playoff game in 3 years,it seemed like an easy decision to me. I DO give Lovie credit though, because I think the Bears could have easily gone 4-12 each of the last 2 years. They are playing with old guys & a mix of mid-low draft picks. Not many 1st or 2nd rounders thanks to Angelo.

But the Bears were in position to make the playoffsd if they beat Houston, & they should have made the playoffs this year with the easiest schedule in the NFL.
Nearly every football announcer who worked a Bears game this year said that the Bears underperformed.
Would any of us survive if we performed at our jobs like Lovie has the last 3 years?
Here's how I handle poor performance at my company:
One down year is overlooked.
2 down years & your put on a performance improvement plan.
3 down years & your gone.

Disagree on the panthers game. No one at Soldier field that day could cover Steve Smith.

Not to mention he called timeout with 1 second left against Seattle which did nothing to help them win.

Cant defend that. That was awful.

Im not saying Lovie is the greatest, but weve had a lot of failure here. Wannstedt, Jauron...I just think you need to think twice when tossing away a coach who's had some decent success

Plus I have a fetish for Stability in your Head Coach and QB

At the very least Smith should have been double covered. If not to start the game then once they saw how the game was going.

Lovie will be back and there will be changes on both sides of the ball. Both sides will have a new coordinator and the offensive side will probably have a few new positional coaches as well.

Didnt Tillman fall down on one of the touchdowns?

Thats not coaching.

Lovie is to blame for the play where the practice squad guy was covering him.

So that game wasnt a shining moment either.

But you have to give him credit for the absolute Destruction of the Saints and their high powered offense. Right?

I definitely agree with you RPB that people seem to be remembering all of the negatives about Lovie's tenure and ignoring a lot of the really positive things he has done especially when compared to the people he replaced.

I'm guessing a lot of the passion for Fire Lovie is coming from mostly A) the unique circumstances involving the amount of Super Bowl winning coaches who are looking for work and unfortunately B) People who don't like his personality etc who desire the yelly screamy coach thing.

I think you can make a compelling case to bring him back based on the Super Bowl performance and the 11 million owed. I hoped to anything they at least had a back door conversation with a Cowler etc though to see what his ideas were and to figure out the overall financial cost of all of this

I assume Turner, Pep and possibly Heinstand are gone.

So help me if they bring Mike Fuckin' Martz in here, I am going to go take a giant piss on 1000 Football Drive in Lake Forest. He will get Jay killed and he refuses to use the one position where the Bears have above average talent (TE).

I'd like to see Chan Gailey get the job, so he can stay on when Cowher takes over next season. He was Cowher's WR coach and OC in Pittsburgh before he got the Dallas head job and put the offensive system in place that was maintained by Mularkey and Whisenhut. But for that very reason, he won't be hired here by the Trinity of Buffoons.

TE coach Rob Boras is gone ... according to Jeff Dickerson, so you may be right.

Hire every assistant and coordinator Bill Cowher wants this year and then hire Cowher next year. Brilliant! I like it a lot.

My source is pretty good, so I'm pretty confident in the report.

It's really ugly at Halas Hall. Here's actual footage of what went down today.

Turner officially gone. Hot Rod in line for the defensive coordinator role.

I'm gonna miss the rest of the Lovie bashing for a couple of days due to a trip to the garden spot of the Midwest...Cleveland! Hopefully I'll still be within WSCR broadcast range at 2:00 while driving East.
Have fun kids!

The Mac show just reported that Rod is not going to be the DC, that they are going out of the organization for that position.

Another thing Angelo will do - this always frustrates me - he will say that everybody is "fustrated". HE CAN'T SAY THAT WORD CORRECTLY. He can't pronounce the "R" in "frustrated".

Does Bears Management and Ownership really think the fans are buying this load of shit? (By the way Lovie says "sussess" not "success").
The current defensive scheme sucks. The defensive players suck. The only shining point is the offense and the unseen potential of the WRs and the QB. Cutler may be able to boost his TDs and reduce is INTs dramatically in 2010, but if the defense can't stop anyone it is a moot point.

Ted Phillips is a completely disingenous piece of shit. Answer a question honestly asshole!

The Bears operation makes Reinsdorf look like George Steinbrenner.
