The shitty singers are fun, but it goes on waaaay to long.

You want to come to playgroup next week? They love this show.

I come here to get away from that. You are bringing me down.

I used to like the bad singers, but the act has grown old. I'd prefer to see more of the decent singers that are close to making it but then get rejected. Not because I want to see them fail, but because it's at least as close to "reality" TV can get anymore.

I thought I'd watch most of the show tonight, but probably only saw 35% while doing things around the house.

the problem with the "bad singers" is that it's a total act now. that's what people go on to do if they know they can't sing.

this element "jumped the shark" when william hung was signed to not one but *two* record deals.

it's not that he wasn't funny, it's that we were now being told how funny it was at how bad he is. it's too prepackaged. what made the first 2 seasons funny with the bad singers was that 98% of them really believed they could sing. they weren't an "act".

the first guy that comes to mind in this trend is keith beukelaer from atlanta doing "like a virgin". that was a total act.

+10000

And I used to live down the street from the Overtanned Girl and her Crazy Mom from Palatine that auditioned about 5-6 years ago. See the link

Not live. The only parts I have seen are when there are news clips of it or some show like talk soup is ripping people on it.

I missed the first night but I did watch last night. I don't find it as
entertaining as I did a few years ago but the first few weeks aren't
too horrible. I thought it was nice they let that girl who liked jumping
off bridges in. Her voice wasn't too bad for country music but she is
going to get chewed up and spit out in LA. That should be interesting.

Look at all the closet Idol fans coming out!

I've watched this show on and off for years. Got pissed off when Daughtry didn't win and didn't watch for a while. Watched last year's debacle and said I wouldn't watch this year, but watched anyway.

The 16 year old girl from Tuesday night was amazing. The one with the Portugese grandma with Alzheimer I think? Already a sentimental favorite. Big girl voice in little girl body. Pretty pretty good.

Here's a link to her Youtube page where she sings, plays piano and guitar. She might be a front runner already:

The blonde waitress that cries a lot is going to win.

With possible outside shot from the really good-looking blonde named Shelby I think. They don't show her sing too much so I'm not sure if she's good.

I kinda like that hippie / folk type chick that plays the acoustic guitar. Can't remember her
name but she was from Ohio and got in at the Chicago tryouts.

I think the cowboy/surfer dude that took off his shirt at the initial audition will go far. Lots of women voters... Of course, 2 of the last 3 (I think it's 3?) "final 2" have included a gay guy, so what do I know.

I never watched much other than the intial auditions and maybe the final 6 or so, but I've watched most of this year because the kids like watching it. Have they always split the cutdown to the final 24 into 2 shows?

They have done the top 24 with 12 male and 12 females the last few seasons. The first week I think they kick off 2 males and 2 females to get to the top 20. Some surprising choices at the end there to make the top 24. There is quite a bit of talent in this group so it should be interesting to see how it all pans out over the next few weeks. I'll stick with the hippie chick for the females and I kind of
like the guy with the Mars Blackmon glasses who made it last on the males side. He really knows how
to change up songs and make them his own.

Angela Martin was robbed. She absolutely should be in the top 24. I think she could have gone far.

I like him too. I was SO happy they let him in the top 24 over that whiney 16 yr old guy.

Only watched a little bit of this last night. Some really weak performances by
some. The hippie chick Bowersox did pretty well but her harp playing leaves a
bit to be desired. At least she seemed comfortable up there which is more
than I can say for some of the others.

I was really disappointed in all the performances except the one chick from Miami - dark curly hair, forget her name. And after watching all of them definitely pissed off that Angela Martin didn't even get a chance. I think Haley and Lacey get voted off. Ashley Rodriguez was awful but hot enough that she stays around for another week.

They said that they thought this was a really talented group of ladies, I did not see it last night, very disappointed. Hope the guys do better tonight.

My early picks were Didi and Janelle from a couple weeks ago.

Didi was alright. I think she'll do better.

Janelle was awful but they said she was good because they want to keep the hot blonde girl in the competition.

Congratulations on breaking the 10,000 post mark Dr. Ken. You've been the source of
a lot of laughter out here in the couple of years I have posted. Keep up the good work.
