FOX isn't a given because they have a lot of contracts for syndecated shows in the hours that Conan would be aired. FOX probably knows that too so how much would they really pay him? The most likely place
to put him on FOX would be after the local news at 10. That puts his show straight up against The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, shows that appeal to the same demographics.

It's not a sure thing that Conan O'Brien & FOX are a long term fit if he leaves "The Tonight Show" and NBC in the wake of this big time mess. I've got two names of hosts that didn't work out when FOX tried their hand out at a late night talk show.

Joan Rivers & Chevy Chase hosted late night talk shows in the early years of the "fourth network" that simply didn't draw any viewers, even though they had a 30 minute headstart in the early '90s over the late, great Johnny Carson and his "Tonight Show". Interesting to note, FOX Entertainment President Kevin Reilly used to work at NBC not that long ago in a similar capacity. Reilly seems ready and poised to welcome O'Brien with open arms and quite a checkbook if Conan ends up leaving NBC as many have predicted.

As for Jay Leno, he's not as funny as David Letterman, but somehow outdrew Dave in the ratings head-to-head before NBC decided to make what has turned out to be quite a public-relations blunder. Dave, Craig Ferguson & Jimmy Kimmel are all getting quite a chuckle over NBC's stupidity...

My only hope is that no matter what happens, it somehow results in the end of the god awful George Lopez disaster on TBS.

Letterman isnt funny anymore. He is TV's version of Terry Boers. A crotchety old guy who is miserable. It's funny...I never liked Conan before he took over the Tonight Show, but I became a big fan of his in the last few Months. I hope Conan goes to Fox & kicks both Leno & Daves ass.
I think the possibility of Conan doing an edgier show on Fox might put him in a position to compete. But Andy Richter blows. Conan should kick him to the curb & get a new sidekick.

I think Conan should sit for 2 years make NBC pay him and then when his contract is up in 2012 jump to CBS and take over Late Show when Dave's contract is up which I believe I read somewhere this week is also 2012.

Tonight may be the funniest night in Late-Night history. Conan, Ferguson, Letterman, and Kimmel all completely crucified Leno and NBC, hell even the SNL commercial took a shot at NBC. I don't know if anybody is on Leno's side on this. It's too bad there was a senate debate on ABC that's pushing Kimmel back to 1 AM because he's never had a better show. He does a killer Leno impersonation while his band does the same with Kevin Eubank's band. Chevy Chase does a Conan impersonation too, it's inspired comedy.

I watched a little of Conan last night, and he is bringing it pretty hard to NBC and Leno. I think he is just trying to get fired so NBC has to pay him and then he can go somewhere else. These next few weeks before the olympics should be interesting.

I was checking out Harvey Levin's very popular TMZ.com and while everybody seems to be supporting Conan O'Brien, there's one thing Conan did NOT do in regards to his contract. Check out what I found here:

conan needs to turn down NBC in all ways, tell them to fuck off and keep the money because he is going to bury their network by going to FOX. itll be like coca cola of the 80's, everyone will ban together for whats right. fuck NBC, im deleting that channel from my tv.

If I was promised a job 6 years earlier and they pulled this shit after just 7
months I would be infuriated. I hope Leno gets the picture and leaves but
not sure that is going to happen. I don't even understand the point of giving
him 30 minutes.

its unbelievable is what it is. it was bad enough NBC created this mess in the first place by giving leno the primetime show... now they correct their mistake by screwing the guy they just fucked over- by fucking him over in a historic way? this is johny carson debacle times 100... NBC is the worst broadcasting company ever.

Can't argue there. So he gets a monologue and he gets to do some jokes about mistakes in
newspapers for 30 minutes and then hand it off to Conan? A monologue and then one guest for 10
minutes? Doesn't make sense.

According to TV Guide, about 83% of viewers would rather watch Conan than Jay at 11:35p (Eastern) weeknights. That being said, I don't think NBC cares about Joe Fan in this situation. THEY FIXED WHAT WASN'T BROKEN!!! :x    If there's anybody who should be sent packing, it's not only NBC Entertainment bossman Jeff Gaspin, but the annoying, unfunny Jimmy Fallon as well!!!

I think Fallon is improving. I like the Celebrity Head Swap thing he does from time to time. The Real Houswives thing he did a while ago was pretty good as well. He was mad brutal when he started, though....

TMZ.com reports that it's a done deal between Jay Leno and NBC and that he'll get the one hour "Tonight Show" back after the Olympics. Also, popeater.com reports that Conan O'Brien's last "Tonight Show" airs next Friday, January 22nd, 2 weeks before the Winter Olympics takes over the "Peacock"...

Leno is a piece of shit. I thought he fucking wanted to retire, warranting the hiring of Conan to begin with.

Hate to take the obvious shot, but I doubt Leno's fans know how to use computers. Get it? They're old.

This will end up being a good move for conan. While hosting the tonight show is milestone for one's career, it also limits your material and creativity. Hopefully he does something on comedy central because he is alot funnier than the tonight show allowed him to be.

Best spot for Leno would have been 2x a week on SAT/SUN at 10:30. SNL does not run during the summer. Somebody might have watched him then!

Conan has been getting some good shots in there while he can. I'll follow Conan wherever
he lands. Shows have been funny and edgy. Jay is out of the loop.

NBC Sports' Chairman Dick Ebersol, who once upon a time executive produced "Saturday Night Live" some 3 decades ago, really took Conan to the woodshed in an interview with the New York Times, also found on TVGuide.com. Ebersol called O'Brien "an astounding failure" who he believes was "stubborn and not willing to broaden the appeal of his show".

Ebersol also took shots at O'Brien & David Letterman for their constant jokes towards Jay Leno on their respective shows this week in regards to the ongoing situation. Ebersol feels there's "professional jealousy" and believes that Conan was "chicken-hearted and gutless to blame a guy you couldn't beat in the ratings." Truth be told, Ebersol does have a valid point on this one. While ABC News' "Nightline" technically beats both the "Tonight Show" on NBC & "The Late Show" on CBS in the ratings night after night, Jay always beat Dave before Conan took over in the summer of 2009. Since Conan took over, Dave has the ratings edge.

One last thing. NBC bosses claim that Conan's last night of "The Tonight Show" won't be next Friday as speculated. They say that Conan's supposed to be on hiatus the final week of January anyway, and that Jay Leno hasn't necessarily agreed to a new contract to replace Conan following NBC Sports' upcoming Winter Olympic coverage next month. Stay tuned, folks.

How dare Conan doesn't beat Letterman his first 7 months!

Oh wait, Jay Leno didn't beat Letterman his first 7 months either. It took him about 3 years to do so and he didn't have a talentless hack on before him stealing the old grandmother portion of his audience.

Who you crappin Dick Ebersol?

I believe Ebersol was the genius who put Anthony Michael Hall and Robert Downey Jr on SNL, nice move. Just read story about Conan's time @ the Harvard Lampoon and how Jeff Zucker had him arrested for some pranks he pulled. Ebersol and Zucker seem like humorless pricks.

Forgot that he was also behind the XFL.

Whose Management is more incompetent...NBC, or the Bears? I have a feeling this entire debacle might just backfire on Leno. Even my Mother is mad at Jay, & she was a charter member of the Jay Leno ALS. On another note, I didn't realize that Conan O/Brien went to Harvard. His Mom was an Attorney & his Father was a Doctor & a Professor at Harvard.
