Adams was roided up, just as Iam sure 98% of the NFL is.

He just didnt use that out rageous signing bonus to GET GOOD SHIT!!!

TB will give up the draft pick. The whole "they knew about the roid taking and shipped him out" bullshit that will follow wont be worth yet another Angelo shit pick.

Angelo drafted a guy who can jump out a pool, this year hes scanning Youtube for the guy who can shit standing up.

I had a friend of mine from high school that died at 24 due to steriod induced cardiomegaly. Like Adams, he died in his sleep and was found by his fiancee the next morning.

Hopefully Adams' death will wake people up to the real dangers of this shit.

He's far from the first. It never does.

Moving on, Adawale Ogunleye probably stands a better chance of coming now now for next season.

I do think Ogunleye stays now, and not sure if the Bears get a draft pick now, man if they do and draft a star player Gaines Adams did do something for the Bears. If they don't get a draft pick, then do they think about trading anybody on their roster except a few for a first or second round pick, namely Urlacher.

What makes some think they will get the draft pick back? Is there a precedent for this or anything or is it just wishful thinking?

why should the bears get a free draft pick? is there precedent for teams getting free draft picks if a player passes away? would cincinnati get a draft choice for losing chris henry? i've never heard of that before that i can think of.

I do not believe it was a conditional pick in any way. Unless there is a magical precedent for which I'm unaware.

i always thought they had physicals and so forth before trades became final, and once they passed the physical, that was that. i dont see how they get a draft choice out of sympathy for a player passing away.

I think the only way anything would happen is if it somehow came out that the Bucs knew and purposely didnt reveal it. But even then, the physicals=no takebacksies, I think

Fascinating how there likely won't be a moment of silence for a player that wasn't (apparently) a complete psychopathic asshole IRL.

There are no compensatory picks for deceased plays to the best of my knowledge.

If there were compensatory picks for dead plays, the Bears would have every pick in the drafts through 2015.

For the record for all the morons jumping to the steroids conclusion and claiming to be experts. There are many causes of enlarged heart including viruses or infections. That's why if you ever start feeling funny heart wise during or after an illness GET IT CHECKED OUT.

Why are you like this?

It doesnt make people morons to consider that the guy who was drafted as "the genetic freak" might have dabbled in steroids.

No one has claimed to be an expert.

I had a very strange reaction to this. I probably couldn't even recognize a picture of Gaines Adams. However, it really is starting to become apparent to me that the NFL in particular is basically a bunch of players slowly killing themselves. I thought about the massive linemen who have built their bodies into unhealthy levels just so we can enjoy them beat the hell out of each other. I know that they all do this voluntarily but in every NFL game you watch you are seeing players who will die well before they should have. Add in the rampant steroid/HGH use we all know is going on and it kind of affects how I view the game. I'm not saying that college football doesn't have the same issues but they don't have the size and in general the game is less violent.

I'm not going to stop watching and enjoying the NFL but I found myself viewing the games on Sunday a little differently. There was a really hard hit and the crowd said "ooooooooooooo". My first thought was that a simple hit like that could be something that lowers his life or his quality of life later on. My second thought was that it was an awesome hit.

Maybe the NFL seems to be getting a little too real to me. Too many people going to jail and people dieing. It almost makes me wish that I went back to the days where I didn't really know what was going on off the field.

I'm hoping there's nothing further to this story than, this guy died in his sleep. I learned this morning he left a wife and 5-year old boy behind.

From Jeff Dickerson, ESPNchicago.com

Quote:
Although the Gaines Adams' tragedy is less then 12 hours old, we feel somewhat compelled -- based on the inordinate amount of e-mails and texts -- to provide clarification on the issue of NFL compensatory draft picks.

Many have wondered if the league is required to give the Bears extra draft choices this spring due to Adams' sudden and shocking passing.

"No compensation is given for a player who passes away," Chicago Bears spokesperson Scott Hagel said.

The focus right now should be remembering Adams and offering condolences to his family and friends, but we just couldn't ignore all the inquiries on the subject.

While everyone's asking what the Buccaneers knew and when they knew it, the same should be asked of the Bears as well. Did they only run this guy through the most cursory of physicals as a matter of standard procedure? Or seeing as how Angelo acquired Adams as a calculated risk, they didn't want to risk him failing a physical because, oh, his heart was the size of a honeydew melon, and have that make the Bears look foolish, trading second-round picks for damaged goods?

Glad this got cleared up. I wasnt positive, but it didnt make sense to me why the Bears would get a pick. I thought Supercup was joking when saying that. I'm not sure why someone would think that.

The only thing the Bears are going to get out of this, is a sticker on the back of their helmets, and a moment of silence before a game.

Then stick to NCAA football where Colt Mc Coy could get tapped on the shoulder, think about his financial future and hit the sidelines for the rest of the biggest game of his life.

I think there have been studies done that the lifespan of the average player is about 10 years shorter than the rest of the population.
