I wonder what this will do for the Greenberg brand, or any other sports radio brands?

He'll say that he really said "Cool", not "Coon", like we're all deaf.

ive listened to it several times, and i do not believe his intention was ever to use the term "coon". i think it was an honest mistake where he was talking quickly and slipped up.

There is a zero point zero chance this was on purpose. I hope everyone agrees.

I didn't realize there was a contest to be the first to suggest Mike's apparently racist because he misspoke. What's first prize, a day off of self-imposed white guilt?

It's of course very logical and well-reasoned to assume that since Mike mispronounced his name and half-assed mumbled something that resembled "coon", he's obviously got a punch-card for Bed, Bath, and Beyond for all the white sheets he must need, what with Connecticut being the hotbed of racial hostility that it is.

Dumbest damned two posts all day ... God-willing, all week at least.

Its a very common nickname for MLK by racist people. I know because the side of the family I try not to associate with much called him that all the time. I know, its shocking, racism still exists. Its no different than accusing all baseball players of taking steriods. You have to accuse all white people of racism towards blacks because enough white people have fucked it up for the rest of us who are not racist.

And dont give me the "Hes educated and obviously not racist". Ill introduce you to a two executives of major corporations that have freely used the N-word in front of me.

Uh-huh. Because nobody has ever heard MLK day been referred to as MLC day. It is so far fetched it cannot even be a possibility.

I didn't claim to know what is in his heart but I'm not crazy, or stupid, or naive. I watched a couple of the videos listened to a few of the audios and made my assessment. You don't agree fine but you can go fuck yourself for what you just said.

And another thing, there is racism, sexism, classism, ageism, any ism you can think of at all levels. He may never buy a white sheet and even fight against that group's cause but he may not be above making jokes or using that language in private.

No, I insist - you first: go fuck yourself, princess.

You're the one that made a half-assed accusation of racism based on nothing else than "well, he could be", so you take the obvious logical step and thus argue "since it's possible he could be racist, it's probably true".

Never been much of a princess but you are kinda being a toad here. If I kiss you will you quit being an asshole?

Let me clarify for you, I don't know if Greenberg is racist or not. This may just be how he speaks. I'd be suprised if you couldn't think of somebody that is friendly with anyone and everyone in a public setting but makes tilted statements when they are around close friends.

I don't agree with that. I don't think you should accuse or assume anything.

A promise to ratchet it down slightly for this one post, if only because your avatar is my football fantasy.

Your statement was abundantly clear the first time 'round .... that is to say, it is not I who misunderstood what you wrote. If anything, your subsequent posts would indicate that you yourself perhaps are unclear about what you wrote.

Spaulding wrote:

You open your post with a statement that appears to lend insight as to your opinion, but upon reading the rest of it, the purpose of the first eleven words is clear - it's to distance yourself from the unfounded, accusatory opining you are about to do.

Now that you've paved the way for you to say whatever unsubstantiated comments you're about to state, you then say in three different ways that you "wonder" as to whether Mike's got a problem with race.

The former two points lay the framework for your actual comment, the latter point - which is to say the whole point of your comment was to say that you had more than a passing suspicion about what Mike thinks not just because of his malaprop, but that in fact the so-called malaprop wasn't really so, but rather it was a Freudian glimpse into what Mike's true thoughts may be.

But the cherry on the top is now you write this:

Spaulding wrote:

I mean, for chrissakes .... the hypocrisy (or at least the lack of self-awareness) could almost be sliced and served on toast.

There are enough dumbasses in the world - please don't augment the list artificially just for the sake of posting something.

Accussing all white people of being racist...because white people have been racist before...isn't that...racist?
