Ok... this to me is almost a relief. How many all stars can we have from teams who won nothing?
I like Dawson and all but that 89 team is going to have several HOFers (just like 69) and they didn't win anything...
Maddux (a lock)
Dawson (in)
Sandberg (in)
Grace (a shot?)

No more Cubs to the hall until they win a goddamn WS!

Grace has NO SHOT at getting in. I am glad Dawson is going in as an expo...and who really cares anyway? It is the person going into the hall, not the team.

Do you know who had the most hits in the 1990's? I mean, in the whole decade. Out of everyone that played the game in the 90's. Do you know who that man is? I'd say that's being the best at what you do for an extended period of time, and isn't that just what the H.O.F wants? "NO SHOT"? You're clueless.

On top of that, he never wore batting gloves!!!

Mark Grace isn't a threat to get into the hall of fame...the only way he can prove me wrong is if he gets in...

Any HOF that Bill Mazeroski can get in ain't that exclusive.

+1,000,000

the day he made it the integrity of the HOF took a nose-dive. If he made it, it opens the door for all kinds of riff-raff to make it. the HOF has twice as many members as it should.

The guy with the most hits in the 1970s isn't in the HOF either. And he had 258 more hits than the second place guy. Grace had 7 more hits than the second place guy. It isn't a very compelling argument. He has no shot.

Grace had 1,754 hits in the 1990's. Ichiro Suzuki had 2,030 hits in the 2000's and he didn't even play in the year 2000. Grace's 'accomplishment' and a quarter will get him a cup of coffee.

A ballplayer should have either speed or power. If a guy has good speed and can hit for a good average and steal 30 or more bases per year, but lacks power...okay. If he has good power and hits 30 or more Homers a season but lacks speed...also okay. Some rare players have both speed and power (Barry Bonds-before and after the juice, Carlos Beltran, Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, Jose Canseco, and Alex Rodriguez) but those players are rare. Mark Grace had neither power, nor speed. He hit for a good average and could spray to all fields, as well as being a tough guy to strike out. But for me, he is no Hall of Famer.
