Well he went from O Line coach to Head Coach, so I assume he did a pretty great job as O line coach.

Tice was a good offensive line coach. I think he'll help Chris Williams's development and maybe even get something out of Omiyale.

Not sure you can't call Martz great. What he did with Bulger and Warner helps his case. The fact that Kitna threw for 8300 yards in 2 seasons should help too.

Considering that each of them only had one brief "great" run, with only two rings between them, I don't know if I'd go with "great" positional coach either. Very good, but IMO not really great.

I'll wait to hold judgment on Martz till I see what the offense does in the regular season. I didn't want to see him get the job at first but that doesn't matter now. I love the Bears and want them to win every game they play, yet I want them to lose so Lovie Staff and his smith get fired.

The one concern I really do have is Greg Olsen. Historically TE has not been a valued piece in the Martz system. In a year that Olsen could potentially get an extension this creates a huge problem. If his numbers are bad because he isn't used effectively then he will either be low balled, get pissed off and leave as a FA, or not even be offered an extension with the same result. I'm afraid that idf he does leave it will haunt the Bears for many years to come. I do know that a Bill Cowher led team does have value in the TE though.

The TE in Martz's sytem is a blocker, not a pass catcher, so yea, this doesn't look good for Olson. He will become another meaningless #1 draft pick for the Bears.

Great interview on the Score with Martz this morning. It's refreshing to hear a Bears coach who actually speaks his mind & answers questions openly & truthfully. I like his no nonsense approach. He pretty much said that Hester is returning kicks again & is a #3 WR, & Greg Olsen will need to block. I hope Martz tells Lovie to pound sand & does things his way. I cant imagine how Lovie is going to deal with Martz's willingness to be open with the media.
I'm not worried about the Bears Offense. I'm worried about the Defense, with the same cast of characters coaching them.

I have never been a big fan of Martz, but given the Bears situation, & the more I learn about him & the more I hear him, the more I think he is the best choice. And yea, the interview today was great. It was very refreshing to hear a Bears coach answer questions openly & honestly. Martz already sounds like he has a better idea of what to do with the Bears offensive players than anyone else there in years. Martz is gonna make it very difficult for Lovie to maintain his information & communication lockdown.

I would really be jacked if the Bears would have done SOMETHING with the Defensive coaching staff. But, despite what Dan McNeil thinks, in today's NFL, teams can win with mediocre Defense & a lousy running game, if you have a very good passing game. So who knows. Anything can happen.

I believe we have the QB, WR's, pass catching RB, and LT in place to run this Offense well. I also think that Olsen has a place here, considering he's more like a 6'5", 245 lbs. WR who runs a 4.5 in the 40. I think we have major weaknesses on the OL, but I there are some pieces already in place for next season. I think our Offense is filled with potential #2 and #3 WR's, not just #3 guys, and while that sucks, what doesn't suck is that they are the right size, shape, and speed to be perfect fits into Martz's system.

Hence the reason I believed from Day 1 that Martz was the only OC candidate that could have an instant impact with our current roster.
