I am predictable if nothing else. Wanna go to a Matchbox 20 show with me? We'll have our venerable pick of the 31 year old Rob Thomas castoffs litter.

No, I think I'm going to the Dru Hill concert that weekend.

I guess. I mean, why not. Give them the halftime show. After all, they were huge for like 3 weeks in 2002.

Maybe he means Rob Thomas, Frank. When Smooth hit it was everywhere from your dentist to the fucking Jimmy Lube.

I freaked some people out recently by admitting that I "celebrated his entire catalogue" back in the day. Haven't heard anything other than a few odd singles since c. 2002 or so.

Rob Thomas is the singer of Matchbox 20. "Smooth" was on a Santana album, 'Supernatural'

The scene: February 6, 2011 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX. A hush comes over the crowd as the heavily guarded mystery Super Bowl halftime show is about to begin. Speculation has been going on for weeks, but when the crowd hears the opening to AC/DC's You Shook Me All Night Long, they think they know what they're about to see. Instead, they see this....

Yes-...Rob Thomas these days. I got to see him at the House of Blues with Anna Nalick and he was an outstanding live performer. I assume that most people still associate him with Matchbox 20 though. If he got such a gig, I'm sure he would do a lot of the old Matchbox 20 stuff, as well as his solo stuff.

Best half-time show ever as they won't need to pull these people out of the grave to give them any "audio assistance" to hit their best notes.

Dr. Ken, I am surprised you didn't try to sneak a Darius Rucker number in there... :P

Probably a good guess. In Dallas a country act seems like a natural. Tim McGraw also has a few good duets he has done with his wife, so thats also a possibility, that they could perform together. I would think Kenny Chesney would also be a good choice if not McGraw. More artists at their peak and able to perform without making the audience cringe when they can't hit the right notes anymore.

Bryan Adams is too big for the Super Bowl. He only sings on a worldwide stage. Look at what he has been up to:

Quote:
Bryan Adams records Olympic theme song for German TV
By bryan adams.org | February 4, 2010

Bryan Adams sings the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver 2010 for German TV – ARD. The Canadian wrote the song “One World, One Flame” exclusively for the ARD.

From 1th of February the song is to hear on the ARD and the radio. The song will guide the audience of ARD through the Olympic Games. ARD sports coordinator Balkausky Axel said: “We are very pleased that we could win Bryan Adams for writing and singing this song only for our broadcasts of the Winter Olympics.” Adams is not only world-famous, but stand up for Canada more than any other musicians. With “One World, One Flame” he has written a song that fits perfectly into such a big event like the Olympics. “We are very excited to see how our audience will accept it,” added Balkausky.

ODB is still very "present" in their shows. Always remember, life has an ending but Wu Tang is forever.
