Other than voting for Blago, am I the only one here with enough balls to say I didn't know Sosa and Mcgwire
were using steriods, and it was the most exciting times in the game? :o

Everyone knew! Baseball knew! Media knew! But it made for exciting times, as you said, and baseball needed that. I always figured those boys were given amnesty from the Commish, up front, for doing this.

You figure another way to bring bBall back from that strike...

i figured it out around 1996, which was probably close to a decade after i should have figured it out. the mcgwire creatine thing caused me to evaluate the likelihood of the situation.

it really chaps my fanny that it went on unchecked for another solid five years before there was even serious talk about doing some drug testing. even now the lack of an HGH test is a joke.

I didn't know but I was not paying attention. I always considered Sammy a fraud. Everything he did seem scripted to maximize his public image. He made the Cubs lovable to many. He made them detestable for me.

Even as a little kid I knew something was up with the Oakland A's of the late 80's. They were just so much bigger and stronger than everyone else. Obviously it didn't translate into multiple World Series Trophies, but they were monsters.

It did transfer into multiple World Series appearances though. Three in a row.

The Bash Brothers thing was throwing it in our collective faces. Forearm bumps? Its like they were slapping needle marks.

I also remember older players either signing or being traded to Oakland and getting a second life. Carney Lansford was tearing it up back then.

I was 15 during that season...I wanted to believe they were clean...I held on to that belief until the day McGwire didn't want to talk about the past and Sosa forgot how to speak English...

I was a moron.

I don't remember thinking it or caring. I didn't want to miss a minute of it but HS got in the way every now and then. I would turn it on in class when I could.

No one talks about pitchers, but what about Dave Stewart - 84 wins over 4 seasons from 87 to 90, but only 168 wins in his 16 year career?

I was at Oakland Spring Training in 89 and Cubs Spring Training in 98. I didn't hear a single person, say anything about steroids. I was also 11 and 20 (should have known better I guess). Today, the McGwire Andro thing would have put an immediate red flag to me. Even while the ESPN talking heads were making into a legit story. The age of young, dumb innocence I guess.
