Yes the streak ended but still overall they win very few championships. Again, forget the cubs, just look at the white sox as an MLB team and tell me they are a successful franchise.

Aside from the last 6 years for the BoSox & perhaps the Cardinals, does baseball really HAVE a successful franchise(on the field) other than the Yankees?

Looking over the last 50 years or so

Yankees
Cardinals
Athletics
Orioles
Dodgers

I'm not talking about the Cubs. And now you are changing your point. You want to say 87 years for the Sox, and you also want to blame Jerry for that. Jerry has been a part of this for only 25-30 years. And the latter part of that has had a pretty successful team overall. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Its one or the other:

Overall, not very good. Under Riensdorf, pretty good but certainly not a dynasty or a powerhouse.

Im not blaming Jerry. Ive never said that. YOU did.
Overall: Not that good. Under Jerry: better

My point: Overall: Not good

The Orioles/Browns had a nice 20 year run from say '65/66 through the middle 80's (one or two more early playoff losses after that. Other than that, meh.

The Dodgers haven't been to the Series since '88. Even that team was something of a fluke. They hit what like .250-.253 as a team? That franchise hasn't been properly run since then - 20 years ago. And until 1937-38 that team was on par with the St. Louis Browns and (arguably) below the Washington Senators

I'd be inclined to agree with your A's inclusion but for a period from the middle 1930's through to 1970ish. Perhaps a bigger argument for denying them inclusion is that they have never really have had sound financial footing or attendance (From Phila. to KC to Oakland)

The point was Reinsdorf is criticizng the Chicago Cubs for what he has done on a bigger scale (US Cell) and what he wanted to do (Phx Coyotes).

The biggest difference is that it is his business that is going to burden some of this, instead of the direct taxpayers of the State of Arizona.

I think Jerry is pissed he didnt think of it first!

The White Sox's two lasting legacies on the MLB is rampant cheating during the World Series and white trash ripping apart their stadium because they disliked synthesized music. The Cubs have been embarrassingly unsuccessful but the story of major league baseball throughout history can be told almost entirely without reference to the White Sox, with only brief and utterly shameful exceptions.

Don't forget Reinsdorf's contributions to collusion and the strike.

Bill Veeck was pretty cool, though. I'll give the White Sox that. Shameful as Disco Demolition Night may've been both superficially (they tore shit up) and on a deeper sociocultural level (blue-collar white guys rioting because of music that black and gay people liked), it's still a Big Deal as far as that decade of baseball goes.

Seems like the Sox didn't get to be a real pain in the ass till Reinsdorf's ownership.

He leads his team into another one of those parades (attended by 9 million people!) he can be the biggest ass he wants.

Living in the tri-state area does not mean that one attended the White Sox parade. There aren't even nine million people that could name a White Sock.

Just shut up. There were 9 million people at that parade. Ron Majors told me so.

So now every team in the Cactus League is about to publicly state that they are against the "Cub tax".

Why do they hate the Cubs?
