I know this has been discussed, but Dye's situation seems to have changed again. He has been knocked down a bit, like his demands to be an everyday OF, etc. It would load the Sox up a bit, but why not sign him to a two year deal, around 8 million, and make him the full time DH? It just makes sense. Although, it would be horrible if you can't get enough at bats for Mark Kotsay.

That was my point when I starting this again. He has come off the OF only demands.

Jermaine Dye is telling teams that he is willing to play first base, reports Jon Heyman of SI.com.

This at least shows Dye understands he will not be an everyday outfielder. He could swap at first with Konerko occasionally, allowing him to get some DH days as well. Kenny should sit him down for a steak dinner, boom.

As you stated, I wouldn't want Kotsay to lose at-bats; he'll do well against righthanders. I guess the question is: Jones or Dye against the lefties? Also, who's better defensively, if these two are needed at times?

Better, I do like Dye's bat, but during the last two years after the All Star game (if my memory serves me right), JD was very unproductive.

However, with limited at-bats as DH and occasional outfielder, he may be more rested to elevate his productivity for the second half.

I don't know what I'm arguing here, so why not just make Big Frank the DH against the lefties? :?

Even if the White Sox decided that to discuss bringing him back, there's no way it would be for a 2 year deal. Also, against the idea, is the thought that they are looking for a guy who can play the field as well, and Dye is no longer a good OF, and he's probably have to settle for part-time AB's, at best, at DH, something he blamed his poor 2nd half on this past season.

The 2005 World Series MVP is reportedly mulling retirement after turning down a part-time offer from the crosstown Cubs and not exactly getting a great deal of interest elsewhere.

I thought this was obvious.....I guess some folks on this board want them to reactivate Harold Baines and Big Hurt....What about Dye's batting stats the last two seasons can't people figure the fuck out?

Dye's second half slumps have been bad. His BA with RISP has been even worse.
