Houston traded T-Mac and Landry to Kings for Martin and 3 scrubs (Hilton Armstong/Kenny Thomas/Sergio Rodriguez). Looks like a great deal for the Rockets. Their is a rumor the Kings may try to trade McGrady to Knicks.

I get a headache wrapping my mind around in the NBA, guys are traded not for their actual on the court value, but their monumentally bad contracts...

Yeah I like Monta too...but I wouldn't do that at all

Mayo is going to be a mega star in due time

Maybe they felt Monta was a more explosive scorer and if they can somehow keep Rudy Gay around, they'd make a great tandem.

How does Martin make them better? They are pretty well set at the 2 with Ariza and Landry was their 6th man off the bench. I don't get this.

well Martin is clearly the best scorer of the bunch, maybe they feel they need more offensive firepower

But are the Rockets at a point where they think they can take out the Lakers? I don't see the value in this move.

Mike D'antoni: Play it.

Ariza is a 3 and Martin is a 2. When Yao comes back they will be one of the best team in the West again

Ariza was playing the 2 for them prior to this move.

Clips deal Camby for Travis Outlaw and Steve Blake.

Blazers needed front court help with Oden and Pryzbila out for the year. Not sure what else this does for them other than keeps them in the playoffs, only to be bounced in round 1. As for the Clips, who knows what they are doing? Perhaps Outlaw is a long term piece. Blake is a journeyman.

yeah, not really sure about this one. from what i read all contracts are expiring, so it's not really a money issue for either team. you're right, i suppose this keeps the Blazers afloat but they're still going to have issues if Roy is not healthy for the 2nd half. and the clippers....total puzzle there, I don't get it at all.

From what I could tell, Portland just wants to get back in the playoffs. They want as many postseason reps as possible for Roy and the gang. Makes sense to me.

Right, and he's an idiot in this case. I like him as a coach, but Nate is by no means a bad defensive player, expecially given his size.

I like the move to. Martin can be the guy they need to go to to get a basket at the end of a game. They already have everything a team would ideally need besides that. Plus that entire team is so good defensively they will be able to hide him on that end of the court. Really, it's hard to think of a better fit for him.

I love Morey as a GM, but supposedly they offered Scola, Battier, a 1st, and a couple other guys for Amare at the last minute, but PHX wanted to waive the mandatory physicals and Houston wouldnt. That trade just sounded idiotic as hell. I'm disappointed that a guy like Morey would buy into the Amare love.

I love stat guys. Morey is one of the few NBA GM's that are stat guys. So far it has really worked.

Stat guys that know the game. IB doesn't know basketball. I've always been a big fan of IB's. He is in my top 3.

I agree. Morey basically was the first, and actually still might be the only, stat guy GM in the NBA. The only flaw sometimes with stat guys is they sometimes underestimate the importance of an alpha dog. Alot of stat guys think LeBron is significantly better than Kobe. That's just absurd.
