No, I'm not suggesting that he suit up for the Bears. Just wanted to reflect on his career.

Remember that time when good ole #8 was running.....yeah, that was cool. 8)

I remember being at Soldier Field and the crowd started cheering because Vince stood up and started doing leg stretches. He did NOT warm up by throwing. Bear fans always cheer the NEXT QB though.

I'm pretty sure he's still a backup QB on the Raiders.

I remember going to see a Vince Evans playing in front of almost nobody as a Blitz against Rick Neuheisel and the San Antonio Gunslingers of the USFL. Plenty of good seats are still available.

Yes, wrong section. No such USFL section exists yet....maybe in 2011?

I had a try out with the BLITZ. It was not because I was any good. It was an open try out. My wife could have shown up. I just wanted to be able to say that I tried out for a pro team. It was at Soldier Field so it was kind of cool.

That's awesome Jimmy. 8) Pics? Memorabilia? Did you get to keep anything? Sorry you didn't make it on. Did you get to meet a Greg Landry, Tim Spencer of maybe a Trumaine Johnson? Was it the 83 or 84 team?

I had a co-worker/friend that was a long snapper for the Chicago Enforcers of the XFL. B48 :eye:

He probably could've been much better than the frauds the Raiders have had at QB in recent years, Doc. JaMarcus Russell? Andrew Walter? Marques Tuiasuopo? Bruce Gradowski? You get the idea...

No,nothing. I do remember Bruce (George's son) Allen being there. It might have been '84. I got married in 1982. I got up like 630 in the morning on a Saturday and drove to Soldier Field. It was an expierience and that's about it. Hey, I LOVED the XFL! I remember the Enforcers getting beat by the LA Express who were QB'd by a guy who went on to start for the Steelers for a few games. Forgot his name though.

Tommy Maddox played his college football at UCLA and was in the insurance biz when Bill Cowher's Steelers came a calling a few years ago, before Ben Roethlisberger...

You skipped that he was drafted by the Broncos in 1991 and you didn't tell me who he looks like. :P

We don't want to see those SLUMP posts again, right?

I forgot he was even drafted by Denver, Eaglo...Needless to say, he held a clipboard until Vince McMahon's XFL briefly came a calling in the late '90s. By the way, moment of silence for the XFL please...Thank you.

Vince Evans cashed 15 years worth of checks in the NFL and only threw 1390 passes - an average of 92 passes a year.

Talk about maximizing your earnings ....
