He may be released soon by the Jets, and the Bears are said to have interest. Would make for an interesting 1-2 punch with Forte.

I'm pretty sure that TJ is 2nd in rushing yards the last 2 years.

I'd much rather see this than LT or Westbrook. He never should have been shipped out in the first place.

I think you guys are forgetting the fact that Tomlinson is a big fan of Walter. Never heard this about Jones, so I guess the choice is pretty clear...

Drinky: Ya know people talking about how LT grew up idolizing Walter and saying thats a good reason to sign him.

Did anyone actually say that?

But he didnt say its a good reason to sign him. He mentioned it as an interesting tie to the story.

It seems like one of those things Team Bernstein scream about that didnt really happen (I.E. Luke Harengody is the best big east player ever.)

I'd be happy with that also ... he catches the ball really well out of the backfield, which is paramount in this f***ed up offense we're about to run.

It was a goofy article. Why do I care how Tomlinson feels about Walter Payton?

Those guys get worked up about everything, that's there job. I just found the article to be kind of dumb. Like Haugh was pandering to the stereotypical Bears fans who can't let go of the '85 team...

Sources: Jones to become free agent
By Adam Schefter
ESPN

New York Jets running back Thomas Jones will not restructure his contract and will be released this week, sources told ESPN on Saturday.

Jones
Jones, who will become a free agent March 5, was slated to receive a $3 million roster bonus March 9 and a $2.8 million base salary in 2010.

Jones, who has played the last three seasons for the Jets, rushed for 1,402 yards and 14 touchdowns on 331 carries last season. The Jets reached the AFC Championship Game.

Jones has 9,217 career rushing yards in 10 seasons with the Jets, Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears.
