The N.L. Central may have a VERY good race. The Cardinals will be the favorite, but the Brewers are going to be tougher this season. With the additions of Doug Davis as well as Randy Wolf, plus having Ricky Weeks back (he was having an All-Star year before getting hurt) added to Prince Fielder, Corey Hart and Ryan Braun. Plus, they have Trevor Hoffman back and he was very good for them last season, showing he still has gas in the tank. Plus, I see the Reds being a team that could contend. They have a lot of good young pitchers. Gotta like Joey Votto and they picked up Scott Rolen and Orlando Cabrera. Jay Bruce strikes out a lot, but he has good pop and some speed too. That team might be pretty good. Add the Cubs to the mix and there may be 4 teams all contending for the N.L. Central. To be quite honest, I really don't see the Cubs winning the division this season, but they will certainly play a part in deciding who does. but it should be a good race in any case.

My God, have you ever had an active thought in your life? That was like reading the back of a cereal box tell me what to watch for this upcoming MLB season, brought to you by Honey Combs.

Aggravated Sox Fan Bob made the comment about baseball was better in the 70's.
I agreed saying there were more African-American ballplayers in the '70's.

Raise the mound back to 15 inches and contract to 8 teams in each league. Then you'll have that 1960's basball :P

Thats a good point. Scoring would be diminished greatly by raising the mound to it's original height. Another factor is ballpark size. The owners took note of the affinity fans had for the home run and made ballparks smaller and easier to hit them in.

I remember every once in awhile when "Brick" was "under the weather" and some guy named Len Johnson filled in.
Brickhouse could pound 'em down, but nobody ever was in Harry's league.

I worked in Harwood Heights in the mid 1990's & we had a membership to Ridgemoor Country Club on Oak Park Avenue in Chicago. Ridgemoor was old money...Jack Brickhouse & Kup were members there, along with a few gangsters & a lot of high rollers. We would have frequent lunch meetings at the club & Brick was always there drinking. A drink didn't last very long in front of jack.
Gosh I miss those days...
