If you didn't mean to insult all public school educated people, you could have just said "your education" - referring to Stu's alone.

By stating it the way you did, you're insulting public school education in general by implying that another kind, perhaps "private", would have been better.

I don't think any public schoolers are playing the victim by being offended by it. It's a pretty general statement where you are offending them.
