While following this off-season regarding the combine and free agency, it seems the Bears are completely disoriented and are in desperation mode. The new allegations of tampering with Julius Peppers, the release of Orlando Pace and now the rumors of G-reg wanting out of Chicago makes me less than hopeful for a competitive season in 2010-2011.

Just to be clear, my thoughts are completely meatball and are not based on any statistics, fact or data. However, the "eye" test shows me a team in disarray and grasping at straws to hopefully get back to playoff contention. This mixed with a lame duck Coach and GM makes me itchy.

At least you're honest. :D

I have zero confidence in anything this group does. That being said, this is the NFL. Stranger things have happened. There are plenty of examples of teams that come out of nowhere after a lackluster offseason and show up big during the season. I will be pleasently surprised if they do well this coming season. If am fully expecting them to suck, however...

My confidence is "zarro". They will win games, though. Although I think with little overall improvement. Unless you start bringing in complementary bodies to shore up the lines and mo better receivers, you'll have Cutler doing goofy stuff in the red zone and an underperforming D.

The League of Previously Fired Head Coaches will make no one better. Their ability to adjust game plans will continue to be suspect. Lovie's challenge & time management skills will continue to entertain the rest of the league (in a bad way)

The only confidence this regime has given me is that the next regime can't be any worse. Angelo can't draft a difference maker and if he does the coaching staff just fucks it all up(Hester). Smith is one of the worst coaches when it comes to real time coaching. His stubborness to adjust in the middle of a game, time mismanagement and so forth. Its just tgerrible

Take a look at the Bears schedule. No way there is 10 wins in there.
Then again, with the addition of Peppers, the Bearsss might go 16-0 my friend.

NEW REGIME?

Did I miss something?

Sweaty Teddy still talks way too much, and knows way too little about football.

Angelo still calls all the shots from a drafting/personnel standpoint.

Lovie still calls all the shots from a coaching/active roster standpoint.

The defense moved the deck chairs around the Titanic when they promoted Marinelli.

Mike Martz/Meat Head Mike Tice give us some optimism.

I guess I meant new regime in that they added Martz and fired a bunch of non-factors and hired a bunch of non-factors. Oh, and they promoted what's-his-face?

Mike Martz is the 'Head Coach of the Offense', and I think Mike Tice is undervalued, and will pay great dividends.

If Angelo doesn't blow his load on free agents and deal Olsen (for a 2nd or 3rd rounder) I feel he's not doing his job.

There will be no salary cap this year.

However, Kreutz, Urlacher, Tommie Harris, Nate Vasher and Dez Clark will NOT be on the Bears after the 2011 lockout.

They should target Peppers/Kampman/Vandenbosh at DE - and go after Atogwe (or the Rams) for their safety. ...and deal for Boldin.

Make it happen Angelo!

It's just a gut feeling. Give me a couple of months and I'll be able to give you a better reason. Schedule means absolutely nothing in March.

If the Bears win 10 games, do Teddy. Jerry & Lovie keep their jobs?

If the Bears win 10 games, Ron Santo stars in a porn flick.

Here is the Bears 2010 schedule. I think it is pretty safe to say that the Eagles, Patriots, Jets, Packers, Vikings, Cowboys & Giants will all have pretty good teams & will be tough games for the Bears. The games that are up in the air are the Seahawks, Lions, Buffalo, Miami, & Carolina.
The Bears may finish in last place with this schedule.
Here is how I see it:

Home:
Philadelphia L
Washington W
New England L
New York Jets L
Seattle L
Detroit W
Green Bay W
Minnesota W

Away:
Dallas L
New York Giants L
Buffalo W
Miami L
Detroit L
Green Bay L
Minnesota L
Carolina W

the giants are in free fall. i think that could be a W for the bears. i can't see the lions making that much of an improvement from last year, and the bears can probably beat them in both games.

it is a tough schedule, but who knows...haven't even gotten to the draft yet (which i know won't matter much to the bears).

Bears might lose to Buffalo, especially if they get Vick.
