Bears' Friday: Peppers, Taylor, Manumaleuna
March 4, 2010 11:29 PM | 1 Comment
By Brad Biggs

The Bears are going to have a full house at Halas Hall later today.

Julius Peppers is on his way to town and it is believed the Bears are close to bagging their No. 1 target in free agency. Running back Chester Taylor is scheduled to pay a visit too. The Bears will also host veteran tight end Brandon Manumaleuna, who is considered a favorite to reunite with offensive coordinator Mike Martz.

Manumaleuna played his first five seasons in St. Louis and the 30-year-old spent the last four years with the San Diego Chargers. At 6-2, 295 pounds, he's like an additional offensive tackle. Martz values blocking tight ends in the run and pass games, and he'll be a solid complement to Greg Olsen, who is fully expected to remain with the team.

Brace yourself for a busy day in Lake Forest as the Bears probably cut at least a couple of deals.

I hope this Manu kills a bat during a game too.

After minutes of fake laughter with Dan Pompei was done, Mully said Lovie flew a crop duster to Carolina to pick up Peppers. Nice.

Adam Schecter of ESPN just said on Mike and Mike that the Bears are going to sign all three.

I just reported that Jerry Angelo is at O'Hare dressed like Benny the Bull.

Is he going to take Peppers to Wrigley Field to sing the 7th inning stretch later?

I just hope they don't call the press conference before the deals are done

Ugh. The perfect complement to Olson would be the ability to break a fucking tackle.

I don't believe I've seen a player drop as many passes as Olsen has over the past 3 years. Most were easy too.

Zach Zaidman just reported that anyone the Bears sign is the greatest free agent signing of all time. But if the Bears don't sign them, they are bad.

With Manu signed and Clark's roster bonus hitting today, I dont think we will be seeing Olsen being the biggest pussy to ever play tight end routine in a Bear uniform any more.
