Well I guess the three week "let's challenge Mike and try to make him think" experiment is over. It's back to Pappy and lapdog Fred from 6-10. I had to shut it off after the 15th variation of "yep, uh-huh, absolutely, you're right, yes you did say that, etc." It's fucking embarassing, and an insult to anyone with two brain cells working. I guess North vetoed having a guy with an opinion on board. He might as well be solo, but he's such a fucking egomaniac that he needs Herr Huebner there validating his every thought. One funny moment though was Fred bragging that he was in charge of "hiring and firing" at Sportsphone. All I could think of is the infamous green windbreaker that Fred still proudly wears.

I thought the whole audition thing was sort of a joke. Hire somebody for the show or don't - those people have all been on the air many times before, why does it take several weeks to add a person who you have heard before ? It can't be because they want to see how they mesh with North because Mike is going to talk 80% of the time, and anyone new will end up being in a secondary role anyways.

My guess is that after 3 weeks Pappy's brain hurt so bad that he pulled whatever possible rank he has left and put the kibosh on it. "Be, dese guys are makin' me tink, and you'se know I suck at dat! Fix dis fer me. Yur da best!"

Too bad. I was kind of diggin' the show again.

Oh but as he pointed out this morning he has given more opportunities for blacks and women than anybody in the business (except von and gci). Man was he running the list of names off about that. That was about 6 AM.

And why aren't Jerry Riles and Jiggs at the station anymore? Oh yeah, to help pay his bloated salary.

On Monday he went off on Score management for being cheap because they let Thayer and Fencik go, it was the funniest part of the show, of course the joke was on Mike and he was unaware of it as always. I listened for a little today and all he talked about was how awful ESPN is and their east coast bias, and how they never gave the Sox credit last year. So who does he have on next to kiss ass, lead ESPN baseball man Peter Gammons.
