It's funny that the supposed "best picture" of the year is a movie that no one really seems interested in seeing.

And let me guess, the message of "The Hurt Locker" is that war sucks and takes a physical and mental toll on the participants? We should all be thankful that we have movies to tell us stuff like this! Otherwise we'd think it was all keg parties and watching television.

well, i would say, just watch the film and see for yourself. but i'll give you a short explanation anyway: while it certainly shows the agony of war (you can't really escape that), the overall story is about how infectious war can become to certain people, and how they can't live without it. "war is a drug" is a part of a quote that's in the opening of the film.

Kathryn Bigelow is gorgeous compared to that hag Suzy Amis that he's with now, and Linda Hamilton no longer looks like 'The Beauty' - but more like 'The Beast'.

Kick the canuck's ass for best picture Kathryn, as you don't stand a snowball's chance in hell for best director!

The whole time that I was watching in between horse races last night, I thought that Suzy Amis was a shriveled Linda Hamilton.

The omission of Farrah Fawcett was brutal. Didn't she win something for Burning Bed? or was that a TV movie?

The John Hughes tribute was touching, but the actors standing on stage looked a bit awkward. Molly Ringwald looked like a deer in headlights; don't remember her breaking a smile. What the hell happened to Judd Nelson? It looks like there's something seriously wrong with him.

Was it me or did Forrest Whittaker look sick?
The only one I felt sorry for not winning a big award was Quentin, he had this misfortune of his best received picture coming out this year.

Did anyone understand what Sean Penn was talking about before he presented? My wife and I had a WTF moment while he was out there.

Maybe it's just me, but seeing Bigelow when she was on the stage (not the picture below) holding the two Oscars made me think of her giving simultaneous hand jobs to the guys tugging on her.

Made me think of Alec Baldwin's Wii skit on SNL.

Tom Hanks never even read the ten 'Best Movie' nominees.

The whole thing was a clusterfuck.

What the hell else was on? Simpsons & Family Guy? I'm even getting a bit bored with them.

Big Love finale? Caught the re-run.

Interesting. It does sound a little like the whole "let's show the mental stress these guys are under" so people will think it's a great movie that is important.

Maybe I'll see it one day. Then I can understand how the best movie of the year could pretty much be ignored by everyone.

well it is about a squad of guys whose job it is to disarm live bombs...so yeah stress plays a little role there.

it really isn't a movie making a statement about the iraq war or anything. it's not saying "oh look at these poor soldiers and what they're dying for"; it is a war film. it's not an anti-war film, per se.

I was watched a Def Leppard doc, Hendrix doc, Pink Floyd doc. Madhouse was on History Channel. Bill Maher rerun from Friday night. I think that got me to 11 pm.
