Well some listen, after the AUDITION hour between 2-3 PM, but this is like me calling someone a Slutbag in blog and it getting attention in Tampa (Home of the Slutbags!)

They talked about this on the Danny Mac show, and from what they said it was a Detroit blogger, in sunday for the game I guess and if I understand from what they were saying the blogger's dad was in the coast guard.

The tradition of cheering during the National Anthem started in the NHL with the Rangers in MSG and the reason at the time was pretty simple: to drown out the "boos" of Montreal Canadiens fans who would travel to New York for games and brought with them their tradition of booing the U.S. National Anthem. Canadiens fans make Eagles fans look like Eagle Scouts in comparison.

I caught part of the interview with the guy that wrote this article yesterday. He said that people in Detriot change the words to "And the rockets red wings" when the fans there sing it. IMO, thats way more disrespectful than Hawks fans cheering. Great WYC stuff.

I heard this yesterday as well. I can't find the writer's name anywhere on ESPN 1000 or on the rest of the interboards.

I personally think it would be cooler if everybody sang The National Anthem and saluted properly. That would be incredible, but not likely. This is what I do at every sporting event, sing with right hand over heart. It doesn't take that much effort and I wish more people would put some time into thinking about this.

The Blackhawks fans (me being one) screaming, yelling and making general noise doesn't really bother me. I think it would be much classier if everybody sang along and saluted as well.

As usual, us lazy Americans take the easy way out and just scream over everything. (kidding of course, please no Jimmy Reardon).

We had Rob Otto on the show yesterday (3/9) and he was pretty good. He has never been to the UC to see the anthem in person...which makes his opinion suspect.

Have a listen to the podcast.

Yes. Also, it bugged me during the olympics when hardly any of the athletes on the podium sang the words when it was played.

Agreed. It was also nice to hear Harry do something other than lob softball questions to a guest.

This is 'push the button' material for me.

Some guy's pissed off. WHO GIVES A FUCK?

Good gracious, you would think that it's the lull between the Super Bowl and the NCAA Tourney.

Why couldn't Milton Bradley bring up some racial shit they could beat into the ground.... or Torii Hunter give crap to hispanics, like his employer? ;)
