Heard Matt Spiegel today talk about no longer looking at those sites that talk bad about him? Isn't this the guy who always says everyone else needs a thick skin? Of course it may be another site, but I am guessing he meant this one.

Spiegs is fine. His partner sucks. Yeah, his partner, who has managed to shoot down virtually every sports topic known to man as tedious, a button-pusher, the abyss, etc. etc., etc. Don't believe me? Check his posts.

I was laughing when Spiegs tried to tell Barry Rozner how to be a good parent - by REFUSING to let his daughter listen to Lady Gaga.

Intriguing....

Obviously Spiegs has no teenage kids. They'll do what they damned well please, and telling them what entertainer to listen to would be considered 'picking the wrong battle'.

Spiegs is a music snob, with some right to be. Lady Gaga probably offends his senses, I can understand that.

Funny thing with Spiegs is that he registered here maybe 3 years ago as Meatpants to keep up with what was going on, not sure he remembers. I didnt.

They sound better but they highlight each others annoying qualities. They don't keep each other in check. It's too much, too smarmy, and pontificaty. I like them individually but together they are not good most of the time.

I don't blame Spiegel for not wanting to come here; there are few thoughts being presented here that could possibly be viewed constructive.

Plus, I think several of you just want him gone so Goff can get the slot. This is the same bunch who pushed Drinky for a slot on North's morning show, who later decided that Drinky sucks and Goff is better, who just push, push, push whatever the flavor of the week is. (Let's see: Drinky at the time was getting more program slots than Goff, so was more polished. Now things are reversed. I personally couldn't tell you who'd be better with the same amount of slots.)

If I were Matt, I wouldn't want to read that shit either. Its scattershot destructive advocacy. Don't care who you hurt while you push for whoever you'd like.

(Yeah, I know some of you legitimately dislike Spieg's delivery and have said why. I'm cool with that.)

You guys know I dislike Loho's work. But I say why, and I don't hide an agenda of, "that means Goff (or Drinky, or both) can take their slot!" I would just rather get rid of Loho, and see how things work out. If you wonder, I'd prefer Murph (but don't see that happening.)

What else can I rant about?

Oh yes: hosts don't "take stands" against players, teams, or work situations. People were mad at Fred for putting up with how North used him on the morning show. Yeah, Fred shouldn't have had to put up with that. Should have complained. Just like you would have in your job. Both might well be unemployed the next day. Fred did the best he could.

Standing up to players & teams. Often hear this with reporters, and Mully and Hanley, who are also... newspaper reporters. You know, these guys live off their relationships with the teams and players. You want Edgy, you had Marriotti. But Ozzie had good things to say about him, noting he wasn't around the Sox.

How about the radio hosts? Well, they too foster relationships with teams, to get guys to come on for interviews.

Diplomacy, just like you have to do at work. Get over it. Watch a cop show: they catch a villain in an episode, guaranteed.
