Per Hub!
The Master will get no significant TV ratings bump from Tiger's appearance. Claiming because if you didn't golf before, you won't watch it now even if it is Tiger! OMG! Hub could you be more out of touch?

 I think it would be safe to say that this will potentially garner record ratings. You have
the people that are wishing Tiger well as well as those who hope he falls flat on his face.

Hub is way off on this one. I get what he's saying, but he's just plain wrong. I am only a casual golf fan. I mostly watch when Tiger is playing. I'm pretty sure I didn't even watch the Masters last year but I will definetely tune in for this one. Not for any celebrity gossip type of shit. I just want to see how he plays after taking so much time off...

Really surprised that he isn't going to try to play in an event before
the Masters. I understand that the Masters can "protect" him a little
bit more than the other tournaments and venues but to make that his
first competitive tournament is going to be interesting.

How can he argue that it's bad for The Masters but that ratings won't increase?

The Masters will be burdened by all the extra attention of people that won't bother to watch it on TV.

I get that Hub doesn't like Tiger...I don't like him either. But there is no doubt that the Masters will garner great ratings, but for someone to think that the Masters will draw Super Bowl like ratings...that's just stupid.
It is obvious that Hub cant stand Zach & thinks he is a moron, & on that subject I agree with Hub.

Did Tiger kill somebody? I get that he's a lecherous snake.

But, who does Hub think will be picketing? Out of work condom makers?

Yeah. He let the truth slip out. He doesn't like Tiger. So what? What does that have to do with ratings, Hub? And going on and on about the President of CBS sports comparing the return of Tiger to the Obama inaguration. That isn't what he said, Hubert. He said it would be the biggest media event since the Obama inaguration. Get off my radio until football season. On second thought, just get off my radio...

I won't be watching, but I never watched before either. What exactly did he miss though?? A few tourneys that no one really watched anyways? His hiatus is like favre being retired from OTAs and Camp. Didn't he miss the same amount when he was coming off of knee surgery? The ratings will be big though. If there can be some guaranteed heckling on live tv I would watch.

It's just ridiculous for him to say that there won't be a significant change in TV ratings. He's letting his fellings for Tiger cloud his already cloudy judgement. He's moving his way up on my useless radio people list...

I think there is some truth to this statement as well. The mix on the mic's isn't working. Hub is off base if he thinks that this is not news worthy, and if there won't be an uptick in activity surrounding the Masters. Part of his frustration could be the way the whisperer is approaching the topic.

Can he go any higher?

I still have him in the same spot. The only worse option is ZZ, and that is why this pairing is just awful. Now that Depaul is done, Zach will probably be getting more shifts.

The only thing that helps Hub's argument is that golf is so spread out. He may not even play on the weekend. And Thursday morning/afternoon won't draw a ridiculous number (but it will still be 5x last year's Thursday).

If it were a single 3-hour event, like a football game, the hype would be centralized. But, if he's in contention on Sunday, it will be ridiculous.

Unlike other tournaments The Masters telecast is pretty good about showing other golfers and not just following Tiger around the course like his shadow. I pray they don't dummy down the telecast to appease the lowest common denominator viewers.

Normally, I'm a Hub guy, but he's lost me on this Tiger deal. No way it's not a ratings bonanza. I don't know about Super Bowl proportions, but it'll be monstrous. It doesn't make sense to think it won't.

Hub is a complete moron,

Ya got...

Old time Tiger haters (people who tuned in to watch him lose BEFORE he started bangin all the Godfathers ho's)

New Tiger haters (people who wanna see him fail now that its revealed he has a skank addiction)

TMZ watchers, who have never watched golf in their life but cant help but be interested in the reaction to the guy Harvey Levin deemed important (SHARK)

The average golf fan who watches occasionally but makes it a point when Tiger is playing.

BTW. Somebody should let Hub know that a good percentage of the football teams he follows are full of narcissistic, cheating douchebags....

5X? On a Thursday? Not a chance. Maybe 2X.

Not following you, Doc. What will be their incremental burden? They limit the media who can attend and usually deal with max crowds regardless. They've had picketers before (I doubt any will show for this) and they brushed them off like a flea.

Somebody should tell Hub that even Tiger haters watch so they can root against him. The only way they wouldn't is if he has a giant lead which is fairly unlikey in a Major.

I can't listen anymore. This may be the worst radio pairing ever.

Last year drew 3.4 million, which is a little higher than I would have thought. I have no problem thinking 10-15 million will tune in at some point on that Thursday.

I'll be watching the White Sox vs. Minnesota that weekend. The Masters will hold no more interest for me than it does any other year, which is minimal at best.

If the rest of the world is so facinated with a serial adulterer returning after a brief hiatus to play in a golf tournament that the ratings are through the roof, that's OK with me, too. I'm just personally not that interested, one way or another.

The first line was Hub's argument - which contradicts itself.

The second line was essentially my confused extrapolation of Hub's argument. Perhaps should have ended in a question mark.
