Why can't the Cubs and Gramatis come to an agreement on what will be advertised and split the money? That would seem to be the least obtrusive way to go about this.

That makes too much sense.
And this guy Gramatis or however he spells it bought the house-billboard-soon to be teardown and more rooftop seating in 2008 for 8.2 million.
In 2008, the rooftop owners were kicking and screaming, but they were paying the Cubs a cut.
I don't know what this guy is smoking to think he's not going to cut the Cubs in at one point.

I WANT TO WIN! If they need to name the place "Chicago Butt Fun Field" and the money helps us win who gives a crap.

I am 41. Halfway through life's path. I AM SICK OF WAITING!

And if it screws with the people that have the house that is blocked all the better.

I go to see the action on the field.

The same people complaining about this if the Cubs win the World Series will call the Score the next day and say "ITS TRADITION TO NOT WIN THE WORLD SERIES!! HOW DARE THEY!"

Everybody has great memories in that place....they were drinking beers at 17 in the Bleachers...they were smoking weed under the grandstands...they were making out in the upper deck...the saw Ernie Banks go yard, the saw Santo click his heels.

The truth is the ballpark has always been evolving as has the fanbase.

C'mon Bob! Back in the day no need to go under the grandstands!

It's embarrassing as a Cubs fan that there's so much attention paid to any fucking thing that happens to Wrigley or in a one block radius of it.

Alderman Tom Tunney is a self important grandstander.

He may be. But the reason for voicing opposition may be to negotiate something that the neighborhood will get, in return for approving the installation of a sign...a Jumbotron...anything. He will probably get something for the residents in exchange for the neighborhoods eventual approval. Years ago, business owners paid for "protection" for their business. This is just a modern day shakedown.
