Even other rappers that you would put in the conversation of Best ever, know The God is the best ever.

Ive actually heard them proclaim "Except for Rakim, Im the illest mofucka you ever seen"

Off the top of my head, definitely check out Beware, The Dream Shatterer and his verse on Off The Books.

And Tupac is overrated big time in my opinion, and belongs nowhere near the top of any best of list. (Just because you're overrated doesn't mean you suck.) His two best verses are guest spots on All Around The World and Gotta Get Mine.

My favorite Pac songs are Soulja's Story from 2Pacalypse Now (before he was famous) and Str8 Ballin'. Str8 Ballin is sick.

Brendas got a baby
Str8 Ballin
Lord Knows
So Many Tears
Pain

Those are some of my fav Pac joints. He wasn't just about bein on som thug shit. He had some really good thought and msgs in a lot of his rhymes. A lot of people from the hood could eaily realate to the ills of the ghetto or hoodlife. He was able to spit about the social ills better than anyone before him. He was believable and sounded sincere with those kinds of lyrics

I like rap, but I'll admit I'm fairly ignorant unless it comes to the household name rappers. I wanna thank you all for turning me on to Big Pun. I'd heard of him, but never heard him. I downloaded Capital Punishment on my IPhone last night. Great album. I didn't realize it was his only one, and honestly didn't know he was dead. Too bad. Would have liked to hear how he would have evolved. He jumped right to my list of best rappers along with Rakim, Tupac, Biggie, Nas, Jay Z, and Snoop. Would welcome any other recomendations from those my in tune to this genre.

Well if all the new stuff sounds like Lil Wayne, I'll stick with the old school. If there is any decent new stuff let me know.

If you want some older cats check out Gang Starr, Jeru The Damaja, The Roots and so forth

Newer hip hop - Murs, Blu and Exile, One Be Lo, Little Brother, Foreign Exchange, Heiruspecs, Atmosphere, Immortal Technique, Elzhi, Chali 2Na, MF DOOM

These are just a few I can name off the top

Im the same way about the Lil Wayne love. Just my opinion but I dont know how anyone could even like him. His voice is annoying, lyrics are godawful and his flow is akward. (I ve been able to get through about 7 songs.) A lot of the hate probably stems from someone, either him or jay z, calling him the greatest ever. If he posted here he wouldnt be the best rapper on this board.

To add a couple to your list:

Royce Da 5'9", Jean Grae, Talib Kweli, Lupe Fiasco, Termanology, and Aasim...

By the way A7X, Big Pun had two more releases: Yeeah Baby, released in 2000 the year he died, and Endangered Species, released in 2001. Make sure to check those out too.

The suggestions by Mr. Hernandez and I oughta get you on the right track. :)

Big Pun had one of the sickest deliveries IMO. Just being as big as he was and the way he was able to control his breathing while flowing the way he did was impressive.

Twinz (Deep Cover 98) off the Capital Punishment album had one of the sickest lines "Dead in the middle of Little Italy little did we know
that we riddled some middleman who didn't do diddily"
