Mike discussed the Drinky/Jesse situation right out of the gate this morning. Apparently management was listening to us. They told Mike they would like to hear more sports talk. They also asked him to put Annie off mic (after Mike engineered her extension) and try out Drinky/Jesse. They told Mike that this would be a try out and the ultimate decision was his about the future of the show.

Well guess what...today Mike proclaimed that the experiment was over and he was going back to the old format. Annie will be back on mic and they will discuss what they want to discuss. Mike stated he was satisfied with life and that he only had 1.5 years to go on his contract. He then asked Annie a Blackhawk question that she could not answer.

Mitch, I know you read this board. That was a power play that you lost. Enjoy. How could you present a directive as a choice? In a few short sentences Mike defined how he is going to treat the next 1.5 years. He has a guaranteed contract and enough FU money to do what he wants. As he stated, he is satisfied.

We will now be treated to Tranny (yes that name is back), Jiggles (this is how I will refer to Jen in the future) and Fred for the next 1.5 years unless someone challenges Mike. It should be great listening as we enter local, state and national election cycles for the next 2 years.

Well said, GD. I heard the opening this morning and spit out my coffee.
How can they let this fool just trash the time slot any further?
No balls management is how.

I wish I could say I'm surprised by this, but I'm not.

North kept referring to the 1.5 years he has remaining on his contract, so it really appears that he's just going to ride out his contract doing what he wants to do, and just refer to management as morons if they think his show should be a sports dominated show.

North also defended his moves by saying the ratings for the show were good. Can someone who follows the numbers closer than myself explain what numbers North is using to repeatedly say this ? Didn't he lose to Mike and Mike again ?

When he had the old midday show and went up against Dan Patrick. He beat Mac his first couple of books. But after that they began to beat him like a drum and he ran to mornings and... now you know the rest of the story.

The short answ.er is yes, in Chicago

There has been at least four people that I know of who Bristol has asked to look at the show, and make recommendations. That is how Dibble lost his gig with them. It only gets worse.

Anyone catch the, " Guess what Devon Hester is saying" game?

Who is Mike to make fun of the way someone talks? If that wasn't bad enough he goes on mocking Hester's urban accent and makes fun of L.Haye's stuttering problem.

Later in the show he tells Jen her blue jeans are not tight enough and to use her sexuality to get L.Briggs on the show tomorrow.

How does a racist pig get to host a morning show?

This show is brutal to listen to and now your bringing Tranny back. A high school raido show could beat North. He is content being second.

HIs Saturday Night Live Bear guys impression is just so bad. He does not even sound like them and hes not funny at all. I listened yesterday and it was so hard to listen too, yet Fred was laughing of course.

Now North has all his "lap dogs" back in order as his ratings fall. NIce management.

I think he's pushing to get fired and get a large settlement check. If so, I hope he succeeds.

Wow, I missed all this this morning. Just yesterday, I posted saying the show had made some small strides toward listenability with the changes. This is brutal. Well, if he doesn't give a damn what his show sounds like for the next year and a half, I guess I shouldn't either.

Guess I'll go back to listening to Steve Czaban on Fox Sports Radio on XM. Unreal.

Too bad, I thought Mike had finally took an objective look at the shitfest that is the MNMS. I was able to listen over the last month or so. More sports, less Annie and the rotating sidekicks seemed like a good move. Alas the Albatross' ego gets in the way once again. Come on Mitch, please have some stones and do something about this, my blood pressure's going up are you crazy?

How does Mitch allow this to happen. Does he have any management skills. You're paying a guy 1.5 million and he just laughs in your face and you leave him with the decision on how the show goes. He's basically saying I've got 1.5 years left, I'm gonna suck for those remaining years, and I don't give a shit. And Mitch basically says "Thank you sir may I have another?"

Mitch sets up these auditions and he leaves the final decision to Pappy. RUN THE DAMN STATION MITCH. HAVE SOME BACK BONE. How can somebody fail for years and still be allowed to control the station. Unreal.

Why does Mitch have to fight with Pappy? He's the PD. He owes Pappy nothing more then his salary. If Mitch orders changes and Pappy doesn't comply then you fire him and you're off the hook with that salary. I don't understand it.

I very much doubt that Mitch Rosen will be appearing for an online chat any time soon.

I did hear much more Annie talking Blackhawks, I think about 6:30 AM or so? I was wondering how she got out of the cage?

Hey, Annie talking Blackhawks. Now that is something I am looking to listen to.

How about we remove Annie from the Morning Show and give her a 3 hour show on Saturday Nights from 6-9 PM, called HAWKS weekly?

I know he does but that doesn't give him the right to run the station. Mitch knew Annie and the format sucked. He tried to change it and Pappy said no. That shouldn't be allowed and if Pappy refuses then you have grounds to fire him.

I'm no expert on contracts. Hated the subject. However, could there not be language giving the Score an "out" for an employee's insubordination (i.e., refusal to accept the reasonable demands of Mitch Rosen regarding programming content)?

And, by the way, the Score is part of a publicly traded Corporation, is it not? Mitch Rosen has a duty to the shareholders not to let one renegade employee run its 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. product into the ground.

If all else fails, do what any reasonable company does. Reassign The Idiot to some woeful job, hoping he quits. For example, the Blackhawks' pre and postgame shows.

It's only insubordination if Mitch tries to implement something and Pappy doesn't allow it. That didn't happen here. Pappy said "no" and Mitch said "ok". Pappy would have complied if changes were forced. He's not going to jeopordize his money. But Mitch, in the end, didn't have a spine.

I'm with every single one of you on this one; talk about the inmates running the god damn asylum. Grow a set Mitch, you F'N pussy! Let's see, 4 out of the 5 teams you broadcast on your station (Depaul basketball, NIU sports and the Blackhawks) none of your listeners give a shit about, so it's all profit. Take that extra money and buy the rest of this shlub's contract out.

TO ANYONE AT THE MORNING SHOW: TAKE THIS DICK HEAD ASIDE AND TELL HIM WHAT A MISTAKE HE'S MAKING.

Horrible, horrible show today....

An e-mail I just sent to Mitch:

Hey Mitch, longtime listener here. I know how you types get offended and scoff at the notion that us simple "radio dopes" attempt to take any of you guys in the profession to task--but here goes. You should be absolutely ashamed of yourself for allowing Mr. Dis is Chicago, Mike North to verbally zone-blitz you the way he did to open up his show today. Take that money the Blackhawks, NIU, Depaul, and some of the Sox money that they all pay you for radio broadcasting rights and buy him out. GROW A SET! If you feel that his show should be less Anne (I prefer No Anne) and more sports topical then that's the way it should be, no questions asked. Say, "Hey Mike, I want you to do this this and this. I'm sorry if you don't feel the same way, but remember I am the boss, so whatever I say is final." Stop being afraid of the numbers on his contract and pay closer attention to the rating numbers. His show isn't failing from lack of commercials or lack of billboards strung throughout the city; his show is failing because it's radio abortion in every which way.

He sucks Mitch, and the only saving grace was having these auditions. In the 2+ years of the morning show, the only times I've been entertained were the 2 weeks that Abbatacola and Lawrence Holmes got to sit in--and I'm not even a huge Lawrence Holmes fan. It just goes to show how tired of we are of North's unfounded political drivel, Fred's Lap Dog routine, and whatever it is Anne's trying to say.

To put it in terms I hope you can understand (though I doubt it at this point...): Mike+Fred+Anne+Pop Culture+Political Discussion=Real Bad; though Mike+Muted Anne+Lesser Role Fred+Abbatacola/Holmes+Sports Talk=Very Good to Good to Tolerable.

See, simple equations on what works and doesn't work Mitch. Unless Pappy really did rape you guys into all these loopholes you must abide by in the contract, grow a pair, be the boss, and tell him how you want it to be, not the way he wants it to be.

Sincerely,
Score Listener

Logic 101, as taught by Prof. Mike North:

If (a) my show has basically sucked for over 2 years and has consistently failed to beat a nationally-oriented ESPN show in one of the most provincial sports markets in the country,

and (b) some changes were made to the format that even some hard-core North critics thought might improve the show,

therefore (c) the best course of action is to go back to the old way described in (a) without even giving (b) a chance at a full ratings book.

Huh? I always thought North's brain was the size of a pea and his ego about as big as the planet Jupiter. I was right.

I only caught the end of the show where Annie was talking about how she hadn't talked so much in weeks. I had no idea that they left her mic open the entire show. Unbelieveable.

But on another note...Laurence Holmes posted something on a MySpace bulletin that said, "Your voices have been heard by me and Score management". Anyone know what he's talking about?

I have a copy of NIU's contract with the Score somewhere around here...As I recall NIU's paying under 150 per year and they keep most of the ad revenue...

Factor in lost ratings and I wonder how good a deal it is for the Score...
