Some of your %s are outstanding. When you guys bet do you bet percentages/chances of an event occurring or bet more from the gut?

I am a stats driven kind of guy. I also don't wager real money - I've had many a friend get in trouble with bookmakers and don't ever want to face that.

Three things for me: Situations, matchups (stats are part of that) and value.

One of the main reasons internet gambling is preferable. Absolutely no betting on "credit". I've never been in trouble with anyone, but the opposite happened to me. I had a bookmaker "die" on me. The family even went through the charade of having a funeral and burial. The guy "died" in very mysterious circumstances and they had a closed casket. First time I ever saw a padlock on a casket. Most of the people there were owed money by the guy. We literally buried the book that day.

I saw him ten years later in Miami. I've never seen an old man run that fast (away from me) in my life.

They don't really break arms. The worst thing you can do to a gambler is cut him off. If you break his arms someone calls the police and he loses his business over relative chump change.

Coast, didn't they have to have a death cert in order to get a spot at the cemetery?

Coach - if I can guess, this guy was connected and usually the connected guys all use the same funeral home....so they probably paid the place off to do a closed casket charade and requested that the internment was private.

The payoff was probably cheaper than the payoff of all the gamblers.

Artie's friend was making 50* plays on hockey games that happened earlier in the day. He threatened them at McDonalds with a giant ash on his forehead.

Wow Coast that's quite a story. Why did you attend his funeral? Were all the players in attendence? Plus no book maker should ever lose as we all know. If they take too much one sided action they're supposed to fade it with a trip to Vegas on the other side.

Either fade to Vegas or sell off some of the action to other books.

I mean I know they are taking bets till 11:00 on Sundays but from what I know most of these book makers have guys in Vegas, or they should, for that fade purpose. So it's just an 11:30 call to their guy to lay off some of the one sided action. They get the 5% juice so a book maker should never lose

The guy was a member of our country club. A lot of guys from the club attended the funeral, all having questions about whether he was really dead. We were friends with him, played golf with him...he wasn't just our book.

The guy had been doing it for years and was very successful. I think he just got greedy and at some point he stopped laying it off. He started taking positions on games, and one bad season choked him. He probably could have sold off property to pay us, but he decided to disappear instead.
