So.... he might be better than Joe Johnson?

I'd still have Wade solidly ahead of him, but yeah he's right there. He has a great chance to be one of the best scorers in NBA history.

you're right...i look pretty foolish for even questioning that now.

you know what, fuck JA Adande too for his ESPN article that the Thunder won't do anything because Durant didn't get a call on the final shot of the game.

Just read the Dime. Yeah that was a stupid article to write. Kinda like I was saying about the Fastbreak question, I think it's bullshit that they would imply for any reason that some of these teams have NO chance. It's not like the Bulls/Raps fighting to be the Cavs sacrificial lamb. Everything we've seen from the Thunder makes them seem like a legitimate threat in the West, although personally I do agree they are a year or two away. If Bosh was smart he'd sign with them and they'd instantly be the favorites to win it all IMO.

well yeah that, but to also suggest that a series will come down to officiating is ludicrous. yeah joke all you want about donaghy and all that crap, but the entire article is based on one call in one game. Durant doesn't get any calls???? he shoots like 20 FT's a game!!!

Yeah JA has become way too ESPN-y. He was decent with the LA Times. That looked like one hell of a game though. A Jazz/Thunder 2-7 matchup would be must see TV.

BTW Bagels, they were saying on Coast2Coast last night that Atlanta will offer JJ the max. I dont see him leaving there for anywhere else unless NYK gave him close to the max and brought in Bosh or LeBron. Best case scenario for Hawks fans is they keep the team impact and LeBron stupidly goes to try to rebuild the Knicks. With Boston on the decline, that would leave only Orlando as their competition for an East title.

yeah i think it's gonna be hard for them
they don't have a lot of options to really get better....crawford has worked out really well for them and i think given them that little extra boost this year

but they really can't add anyone else...even with joe, i think like you said their best bet , sad as it is, is to hope other teams get worse. i mean joe is joe. josh smith has played his best season this year, i'm not sure how much more he can improve. horford too, i suppose he could improve a bit but he's already a sure double double and his shooting has gotten better. just saying i think their players have maxed out their talent and they can't really add anything else. i guess it would help if they could somehow get rid of Bibby and get a better defensive PG

I think it'd be smart this offseason for the whole team to really get Horford involved more. Sometimes he looks uncomfortable in the post offensively, and I think that's because he gets cold not being involved fluidly. Like you said, I'm not sure Joe and Josh will get much better, but Horford I think can really improve his post game offensively with more consistent touches and gameplans.

I think alot of casual fans are gonna get to know Jamal Crawford in the playoffs.

i guess maybe just his reputation as being selfish and shooting too much

Way to shoot-ey and not make-ey.

Too Brad Miller-ey.

I can't believe he's been in the league 10 years already. That makes me feel old.

Nellie actually broke the wins record last night. Im going to make my prediction right now: He will be not be back next year.

Bosh is officially done for the season. The Raptors are doing everything they can to hand over the last playoff spot to the Bulls. With a win tonight, the Bulls will be tied with Toronto.

not that the Cavs really cared to begin with- either Bulls or Raptors are getting swept- but now...jesus....i'd be surprised no matter who gets #8 if any of the games are closer than 30. it's either a Raptors team w/o Bosh or a mediocre Bulls team. they should just get a bye and not even play the games

So you're not going to jump on the bandwagon?

I was going to jump on the Bucks bandwagon for the playoffs, but with Bogut out they will probably lose a first round series in 5 games. You must be breathing a little sigh of relief as an Atlanta fan.

A 1-8 matchup between LA and OKC looks very interesting though.

True, although I don't think that's really a bandwagon to be on right now

Why would the NBA make this announcement about the end of the Thunder/Jazz game from the other night? This wasn’t a call like “Did Player X get the shot off before time expired?”, it was a foul call, which are completely left up to the officiating crew. They felt it wasn’t a foul, and one wasn’t called. By commenting on the situation, it only makes the NBA officials look worse (which I wouldn’t think is possible, but somehow they found a way to do it). In this situation they really should stand by the call made, but instead they are throwing gas on a fire.

Quote:
OKLAHOMA CITY -- The NBA announced Wednesday officials missed a foul in the final seconds of Utah's overtime victory over Oklahoma City the previous night.

"On the final play of last night's Oklahoma City-Utah game, the officials missed a foul committed by the Jazz's C.J. Miles on the Thunder's Kevin Durant during a 3-point shot attempt," NBA president of league and basketball operations Joel Litvin said in a statement.

Deron Williams' jumper with 1.1 seconds left in the overtime gave the Jazz a 140-139 lead and Miles clinched the win with a block on Durant's shot at the buzzer. Durant believed he was fouled and he and several teammates stayed on the court pleading for a call that never came before the officials were escorted to the tunnel by security.

Durant, a 90 percent foul shooter, would have shot three free throws with a chance to put the Thunder ahead with less than a second to play had a foul been called.

The loss knocked Oklahoma City into the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference entering Wednesday.

"Somebody has to lose the great games in order for it to be a great game, and unfortunately we lost. ... There's a lot of games that we won the tough games and that one, we lost," Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks said. "We didn't get the stop at the very end of the game, regardless of the play at the end."

The missed call came four days after Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics was fined $25,000 for criticizing officials for calling fouls against Durant's defenders as though he were Michael Jordan -- and using a profanity during that criticism.

"I think referees are great at what they do," Brooks said. "I've talked to them as a player. I've always had good relationships with them and I still do. One of the things that they do, and they do it well, is they call the game the same whether it's the first minute or the last minute of the game.

"They have a tough job. It's a tough job to be able to make the correct call and they do it high-90 percent of the time."

Jazz coach Jerry Sloan could not recall a specific instance when the league acknowledged an officiating mistake after the fact -- though it has happened during each of the last two postseasons.

"That's part of basketball," Sloan said before Utah's game in Houston. "I don't think you can spend all your time worrying about that. Once it's over, you might be upset a little bit at the moment, but life goes on. You can't do anything about it."

Sloan said he's put the ending and the controversial ending behind him.

"I don't know if it benefits you to continue to harp on it, or talk about it," he said. "The job now is to forget about that, and that's what you try to teach guys. Forget about the game last night, because you're going to have to play a different team in a different setting, different situation."

When he looked back at the tape of the game, Brooks said he questioned his team's decision not to foul prior to Williams' game-winning shot. The Jazz were not in the bonus and would not have shot free throws.

"We had a chance to foul and we did not do that. I don't know if that would have changed him from making his shot, but we didn't get the stop," Brooks said.

To be fair, you probably would have been golden had I not also jumped on a few weeks later.

DB- Looks like it wont happen, but I was kinda hoping for a 1-8 Spurs/Lakers. Right now the Spurs are simply the better team. Not sure if that's cause the Lakers are cruising or cuz they are struggling. I still like the Spurs to do alot of damage in the postseason if Parker is healthy. Hill is a legitimate weapon out there every night, and Manu is playing his best ball in 3 years.

Sure, how about winner gets to pick the losers signature for the remainder of the NBA Playoffs?

It's your funeral Kid. I hope you'll still agree to a playoff gathering when I'm in town for a couple weeks at the end of May even though the Spurs will be close to clinching a WCF trophy and the Mavs will be watching like we will.
