I was thinking of picking up these titles when they are released. Anyone have opinions on them?

Red Dead Redemption... I want to hate this game because I didn't like GTA IV, but the trailers look so good.

Splinter Cell Conviction... Gameplay looks pretty great and everyone at PGL seems really fired up about it.

Crackdown 2... I never played the first game since the demo kinda sucked. But there seems to be growing hype on this one. I doubt I'll get it, but my interest is growing after seeing some of the gameplay.

The first Crackdown was pretty fun. Think a sandbox game like GTA but with superpowers. Being able to jump 150 feet in the air from building to building was a pretty good time. It got pretty repetitive but I got it used for like 15 bucks and got a good amount of gameplay out of it. I will give Crackdown 2 a shot when the price goes down on it.

I guess I just didn't like the gameplay in the first demo... the shooting and aiming mechanics seemed too basic and you died too easily. Kills seemed to be based more on luck than skill/strategy.

I'm waiting for Lipid to respond before I decide which game I want.

I cant really argue with there the aiming system was frustrating because it would latch on to one target in a group and it was hard to switch around. Most of the time it was easier to run up to groups and kick them or shoot a rocket at them. I found actually moving around the city and doing some of the climbing races to be more enjoyable then some of the main mission gameplay. If they have refined some of this stuff in the second one then it would make for a better game.

I've been waiting for Red dead for months now, I can't wait for that game... although I'll probably have to due to monetary issues...

Because I don't know that much about it, what do you find about Red Dead Redemption that turns you off?

Actually, I don't know much about it either. From what I gather it's much like a Grand Theft Auto "sandbox" game set in the Wild West.

I prefer jacking cars to jacking horses.

Like I said, not really a good opinion...just my first thought when I heard the game brought up...

No Splinter Cell Conviction love, lipid? I thought since you were a big Metal Gear Solid fan, that you'd love this one. Gameplay and story look pretty good in this one.

I almost forgot... How about Alan Wake? Anyone picking this one up?

I wonder if you steal someone's horse and that if the heat gets to be a little too much you just pull up to the drivethrough blacksmith and he puts a new set of shoes on her, wiping your wanted level clean...

Alan Wake and Red Dead or def. 1st day pickups for me. Never got into Spliner Cell, probably because my first real playing of it came with my bargain bin purchase of Double Agent...which really was just Ok.

And Conviction has stripped away the ability to carry dead bodies! Which is a huge factor in the game. The devs said it was taken out to fit a more "quick" playstyle. That doesn't give me a boost in confidence for the game.

Found this. I admit, I'm interested in Red Dead Redemption now.

Stunning graphics, same shooting mechanics as the gta games, decent story thus far, this game is a win.

Is there a Strategy Guide to RDR available? The reviews have been really good.

Can you pick up whores on your horse?

Yea... actually in this day and age, somebody will have a guide or FAQ on IGN or Neoseeker within a day or two. I remember getting all the bulletproof cars in GTA3... good times.
