On Valentine’s Day 1993, 17-year-old Bethel High School basketball star Allen Iverson was bowling in Hampton, Va., with five high school friends. It was supposed to be an ordinary evening, but it became a night that defined Iverson’s young life. A quarrel soon erupted into a brawl pitting Iverson’s young black friends against a group of white patrons. The fallout from the fight and the handling of the subsequent trial landed the teenager—considered by some the nation’s best high school athlete—in jail and sharply divided the city along racial lines. Oscar nominee Steve James (“Hoop Dreams”) returns to his hometown of Hampton, where he once played basketball, to take a personal look at this still-disputed incident and examine its impact on Iverson and the shared community.

I've enjoyed the 30 for 30s I've watched so far. Hesitant to watch this one because I think it will just make me mad, no matter how well done it is.

I'll watch. Haven't seen any of the 30 for 30's yet. Hope it doesn't suck...

I loved Allen Iverson but I was always glad that he wasn't on my team because I thought his style of play was fun to watch but didn't really give you a great shot at winning a title. He almost proved me wrong but the Lakers were just better.

Probably the toughest little guy in the NBA we'll ever see. He took hits in every game he played but always got up and went back just as hard.

I liked the 30 for 30 on the U and have wanted to watch more of them but have trouble catching them when they are on. Does anyone know if they are or have been ondemand?

Ok so i'm sitting here finishing up watching this and this Brent Musgrove guy (local sports announcer from Iversons neighborhood) is really irritating me for some reason. Don't know what this guys deal is but he seems to have a hidden agenda against Allen. I did not know that Iverson got 15 years for the brawl in the bowling alley seems really harsh to me but Mr. Musgrove says "to be convicted for 15yrs and end up pulling only 10 months, I think he got a break." Really dude? got a break? You think that 15yrs was acceptable?

Overall I enjoyed this episode and enjoy the work of Steve James.

Many thoughts after watching this 30 for 30. I guess the main opinion I have is there were all sorts of bad people involved. This includes everyone, including Iverson.
