yes, I know a little something about the Mike North deal.

First of all Mike does not have a contract with WSCR Radio. He has a deal with CBS Radio Broadcasting.

Maybe you have heard of Tony Bruno? He is 'Syndicated' and believe it or not someone thought they would be able to Syndicate Mike North into other markets. Always good to then have a Chicago show.

I felt compelled to post again after reading one of the other posts about Mike and his "Awards". I think we can all agree Mike is an idiot. Mike might even agree, but somehow all these organizations want to give Mike awards?

Someone needs to inform all these people in writing about Mike. Maybe a Publicist? or his Wife? Oh, donations don't hurt either.

Either way, 'The Plan" was to take Mike North National. Of course the fool that got swindled into the deal only heard the 3 good tapes and didn't realize that the racist stereotype commentary that riddles his show might not be so great in Detroit, NYC, NC, SC, FLA, ATL, MISS and so on.

So now that CBS has basically acknowledged Mike as nothing more than a pain in the ass, that they overpaid, they commit no resources to him. However they need to honor his contract which states he gets to choose his newsperson, lap dog, producer and etc.

Personally, I can't stand listening to him since he went solo even before this show. When he was paired with someone and he didn't run everything, he was a Scoreguy. Just a guy on the radio no better or worse than the rest and thus the 'conversation' was interesting.

When he went solo it became 'I did this' , 'I got this for free' and then to my shock and horror he was awarded a whole morning show???????

I remember listening for about the forst Month and then 2 years later and it was bad as when he first started.

Not so sure anyone can do anything about it at WSCR except work with him to make changes, but if he is going to be a stubborn ass about it, which I feel safe to say he is, then they can do nothing short of saying he has noit honored the good faith spirit of the deal to make a best effort, which obviousely is very hard to prove.

It won't be long and he will be beaten back down to regular host standing and I am going to guess on another station as WSCR will look to recoup some of that money.

He will convince some Station to give him a deal, with a base pay and a % of the earnings and he will run them into the ground, because they won't have any of the listeners in place and any station that thinks this guy can do general talk radio will pay dearly.

That's pretty interesting. I guess I owe Mitch an apology if that is the case. He tried but I guess he has no control in the end. This is all Pappy and that ego. He must know he has a god awful show but he's got the hammer and he's gonna use it. I'll bet those boys at CBS kick their selves every time they get the latest ratings book. They had plans of syndicating Pappy? Yet he can't even beat the national sports show in his own city. Man, I guess being a radio exec doesn't mean you know what you're doing. We all could have told them it was going to fail. They gave him that deal without having Pappy prove him self in a "drive time" shift. That's just horrible business.

What North said the other day really makes sense to what PornKing suggests (I didnt listen to North's comments the other day... just going off what was recapped here). North mentioning that he is satisfied with his life and he has $1.5 mil. The choice is North's in regards to change and he refuses to allow it.

I'm willing to guess he does know he is tanking it big time. Not a damn thing anyone can do about it either, and he knows it. He knows we dislike him, and he's probably thinking "yep, all those message board posters are exactly right about me and my show. But, (in a singing tune) I'm the one with all the moneeyyyyy!"

Because he is Mike North and channel 5 was willing to throw money at him, I bet he gets a radio gig of some sort after his CBS/WSCR contract is up. People are stupid and make mistakes that others have made.

Plus he didn't want anybody else to shine on his way out the door. He didn't want to give Larry or Drinky a shot because he knows they would make him look like an idiot and maybe advance their careers'. Pappy you don't need to throw the money you've got in everybody's face. You got it. More power to you. You're set for life. But you'd think you'd have a little pride in your show. And a little apreciation for your fortune. But no. Your true colors show.

Don't think you got that deal because of great radio success. You really didn't. Never had off the charts numbers in midday and were never in "drive time" before you got it. CBS took a shot and they made a horrible mistake. Good for you. It was just good fortune.

Money cant buy happiness. This guy will still be trying to get on the airwaves somewhere and he'll probably end up with a gig.

His ego will push him to try and prove he is a star in Chicago but deep down inside I think he knows his 30 minutes of fame are ending with each passing rotten show.

I listened to maybe 60 minutes total of his show since he's been on in the morning and I feel for those of you that let your love for sports persuade you into to turning 670 on in the morning everyday. Thats a lot of damaged brain cells you all have now not to mention the wasted time.

The good news is maybe just maybe this is the start of a new beginning at the Score. Maybe the powers that be will get back to basics and make the Score what it once was. A caller driven sports station that we all loved and had on from signal start to signal finish every day

Maybe there is a bright side to all of this.

Vegas, huh? Heh, he could do an Adam Zin-type of sports betting show, no problem. He can be the 'irritating guy with an opinion', matched with the betting service's mouthpiece. It could work...

I get that same feeling from the ratings.

So you have listened to roughly an hour of the show since it started, and yet over half of your total posts are in this section alone?
I feel for you that you let your other screen names persuade your thinking about the North Morning Show.

Apparently, you have spent more time posting in this forum, than you have listening to the actual show

You know what? I don’t like the show, but I listen because I dislike M&M more, but when it becomes too much, I throw in a CD, but let me tell you something. The show sucks. Fred Sucks, Mike Sucks, Anne Sucks, Rock Sucks and it isn’t totally because the show is awful, a big part of it has to do with the fact that they try and act like they are some huge success, which they are not even to close to being, which means they don’t work on making the show better, which is clear since Mike bought back Anne who shouldn’t be within 10 feet of a sports talk show.

Mike's ratings since he left the Jiggs in dust are crap, am I suppose to think a high school drop out can tell me something I don’t already know? His view on politics are a joke, he barely preps for his show, isn’t nearly the "great interviewer" some say he is and basically has been mailing it in for 4 years now. He totally ignores the few listeners has left and you know why, because he doesn’t feel they are important enough to be part of his show. What? Its called sports talk radio, but yet during 6-10am, it’s the god who invented radio and he will talk down to us common folk to let us know how stupid we truly are. Then you have Rock, Anne, Fred and Jiggles feeding his ego, which tells me that they either are to stupid to realize they are working for the biggest moron to walk this earth or they are spineless, I would guess Fred and Annie are the spineless ones and Rock and Jiggles just are to young and dumb to stand up for themselves.

His "hand picked staff" has produced nothing, Mr. Bottom line should see that, what does Rock, Fred, Anne or Jen offer, nothing and that is obvious by the ratings, oh that’s right they are flawed, but wait how can they be flawed now, WSCR is in the lead, oh they must just be flawed from 6-10am. That is exactly his thought process; I would bet the houses on it. I almost feel sorry for Anne, because she has an education and has to take orders for a blabbering, drooling boob, I just don’t get it.

What I also don’t get is how people that are in the business of being critical cant take the heat when the tables get turned on them. Mike is so thinned skinned it sad, but of course its coming from those "message board people" what do they know? That’s why I will enjoy the day Mike North and his band of ass kissers get launched and put in their place, then maybe we can get a show that actually finds it necessary to take a call to see if someone might have a different thought on certain subject, as far as the Mike North subject goes, I rather listen to static then another second on a overpaid egomaniac whine how he is getting screwed, because Mikey, when you screw a large company out of 1.7 mil, payback is a bitch.

Wait, your hero hates espn, says he doesnt watch, but yet he can comment on it, listen, get your head out of Mikes lap for two seconds and listen carefully to his show, you will then join " My ears are bleeding" club.

I actually have to give you credit, I didnt think he had any fans left, but you obviously have a loyal love for his show, by the way, what did you score on your G.E.D?

Ike is there any reason for you to post here ever again? Since everything you're going to say we've heard at least 10 times before.

At least RodeoVann calls / emails in (or used to), can actually talk sports, and doesn't just hide here on the board sucking pappy's dick.

I'm an original Scorehead from 92. I cant listen anymore because of North, Bernstien, Rogers, Boers etc. I want my Score back so I check here to find out whats goin on. I will return as a fan of the Score again the day Norths gone. Other than from 2 to 6 that is.

Ike and the other clown can stay in the minority and kneel to the GOD known as Mike North. I have better things to do like pop the pimples off my wifes back.

Keeping the Numerical Sequence of the Original post alive

1. Porn King, nice name and from what I can tell he doesn't post under any other name and had not posted in a long time. Of course it may be from his 'porn only' computer

2. That was quite in depth and I especially see some truth in the desire to for organizations to honor Mike with awards. That angle has become really weird, maybe Man of the Year from the Park Ridge Paper is next? or the Vienna Hot Dog hall of fame?

3. Ike, you really don't know what a ged/GED/G.E.D. is? No matter how it was typed?

4. What the 2 supporters of Mike fail to see, or just don't like admitting, is that almost everyone on this board listens to Sports Radio at some time during the day. What Mike has done is seriousely diminish the quantity of time I and others listen to him and WSCR. The reasons are plentiful and have been posted here in many different forums, but what really sucks is that the chance to try and improve the show was right there in front of Mr. North and he pissed all over Mitch, WSCR, CBS, Drinky and even Ike South who admits more Drinky, less Anne makes a much better show.

From Day 1 when this experiment started I asked the simple question of where did they think Mike was gettign NEW listeners from? As the NEW format was going to be general talk, that's why Anne Know It All was brought on board.

It's a sports talk station. That's what it is, live with it. That's all it is going to be, which is fine. Now just get more than one person who talks and tells the others what to say and when to say it and we can move on.

PornKing's post makes the whole thing more understandable now. He's got complete control and is using. Why he chooses to have a bad show, I don't get.

Big Fan has got it right though. The most disappointing thing was that we all heard the show can be better, maybe even good, but now it's back to some funky love child of WIND, WLS, and NPR with a little bit of sports thrown in. Of course, 50% of the sports talk is bowling, softball, and what sports figure he saw at Gibson's last night when he was getting comp'd.

i cannot stand Mike's bullshit show. It is a joke plain and simple and YES, Ike and Keeping Score i have sampled many hours of it hoping that Mike North and others would get a clue and doing something to make the show good, from day one it has not worked well, to claim otherwise is just fooling yourself.

From my point of view, this is what happens, I turn on listen to Stocks and jocks which in my humble opion is WAY more entertaining that MNMS.

Then I try and tolerate MNMS. After a short while I find it horrible and turn it off and find something else to listen to , another station or turn radio off altogether. At this point I get preoccupied with work or other stuff and forget about the the Score altogether and find that I end up missing B&B or at least part of there show, by the time I remember to tune back in.

I would bet many of you out there are in the same boat.

Ike, and Keeping Score, I understand that you are supporting your guy, but the truth is the show is terrible, Mike needs a STRONG cohost or supporting character.

Without this he just cannot seem to cut it. Mike's poor morning show is not only hurting his radio ratings but its also hurting the entire stations ratings because of the tune off effect that I mentioned.

I fail to understand why anyone would find Mike's rambling about himself enterntaining. I know radio host do this but they typically do it in a way that ties in to the show, or topic being discussed or have enough insight on a subject to draw in interest and or callers.

Mike cannot seem to do so. Ridicule me if you like, its only my opinion, but based on this board and the ratings its hard to dispute the fact that the show is not good to put it nicely. Most people have enough pride in their craft or chosen profession to make changes and try and succed.

Mike on the other hand has chosen to keep cashing the checks and either foling himself that the show is good or has chosen to be arrogant and keep going with the same old crap.

When your employer asks you to make changes, and consider a cohost and goes as far as to make you try them out.....the rest of the WORLD most likely would get a clue and realize that HEY i should pick the best of the bunch here and improve my show and show I am team player, still collect the big cash and watch things improve so that he could improve his chances of staying on after the contract.

Why cant Mike see this ? Or please explain to us Ike and Keeping Score why Mike's way is better somehow ?????

You are thinking he could be the "Randy Rosenbloom" or the "Mike Carlucci" type (now everybody knows what my favorite show on the Score is), but I don't think so. They should be the "believable" anchorman big voice with a geography neutral English type guys, not Mike's high pitch voice with English packed with idiomatic expressions and accent.

No, because Randy really doesn't introduce opinions. He's the anchorvoice guy. No, see, what you can do is have Rosenbloom introduce something ("the Falcons are playing the Pats. Will Michael Vick..", then have Pappy throw out ideas left and right in an irritating manner, then Zin can come in and tell everyone to call in for 'sane' service.

Personally, that show drives me to utter distraction.

From Wikipedia,

Quote:
The GED, or General Educational Development Test, is a test that certifies the taker has attained American or Canadian high school-level academic skills. To pass the GED, the test taker must perform in at least the 40th percent of high school seniors nationwide, though individual states can set their own requirements for passing. Some states also require that students take an additional test showing an understanding of federal, state, and/or local government.

The GED is taken by individuals who did not obtain a high school diploma. The GED tests were originally created to help veterans after World War II complete basic high school courses in preparation for returning to civilian life. Common reasons for GED recipients not having received a high school diploma include immigration to the United States or Canada; homeschooling; and leaving high school early due to a lack of interest, the inability to pass required tests, or personal problems.

There you go. High School equivalency test.

Here are a few examples I on found doing the whole google thing and for some reason, I cannot believe that Mike could do this and pass.

GED Sample Test Questions
Language Arts, Writing
Part I
There are 50 multiple-choice questions on the Language Arts, Writing Test, Part I. These questions require you to revise and edit workplace, how to, and informational documents. Scores are combined with those of Part II and reported as a single score. They are divided among the following three question types: correction, revision, and construction shift. These questions address the following content areas:

Organization (15%): Restructure paragraphs or ideas within paragraphs, identify topic sentences, create unity and coherence in the document.

Sentence Structure (30%): Correct sentence fragments, run-on sentences, comma splices, improper coordination and subordination, misplaced modifiers, and lack of parallel structure.
Usage (30%): Correct errors in subject-verb agreement, verb tense, and pronoun reference.
Mechanics (25%): Correct errors in capitalization, punctuation, spelling (restricted to errors related to possessives, contractions, and homonyms).

Part II
The second part of the Language Arts, Writing Test consists of an essay on a general topic. Part II assesses your ability to write an essay about a familiar subject. Scores are combined with those of Part I and are reported as a single score. More information is available on the Language Arts, Writing Part II page.
