Guillen and Cooper are looking for a bounceback game from Peavy on the Saturday Fox national game. Hoping for a sweep here, but any series win will do. With 3 righthanders due to go for the Tribe, we will continue to see if Andruw Jones will be in the lineup, whether at DH or in the field.

There are a couple of good signs at (Not So) Progressive Field as the White Sox face the Indians this weekend in Cleveland. First, Mark Buehrle is starting tonight. Second, Gordon Beckham tends to perform very well when FOX Sports is broadcasting the game, as will be the case tomorrow afternoon in his brief time in the bigs.

At the same time, Mitch Talbot is the latest no-name pitcher that the Sox have NEVER faced before, and even with Buehrle starting the series this eve, that hasn't been a good omen lately. Just ask the Blue Jays' Ricky Romero handcuffing Sox hitters Tuesday night. Meanwhile, Jake Peavy starts the FOX game tomorrow for the Southsiders, even as pitching coach Don Cooper hinted yesterday on "Mully & Hanley in the Morning" on 670 The SCORE that Peavy might have stiffness in his back...

I wouldn't call Romero a no-name. He was a high draft pick who did fairly well last year in his rookie campaign. Talbot, I know nothing about.

Peavy needs to get it together this weekend. It's GO time!

Kotsay should not start any of these games. Jones had a great series, now lets see if he can keep that going for a second.

I have a feeling Jones will be in the field for either Pierre or Rios for 2 of these games, so we may see Kotsay as the DH or at 1b. But I agree he should not be in the lineup at the expense of Jones.

Here's the lineup for tonight's scheduled opener at (Not So) Progressive Field, weather permitting, White Sox fans:

1 Juan Pierre LF
15 Gordon Beckham 2B
20 Carlos Quentin RF
14 Paul Konerko 1B
7 Mark Kotsay DH
51 Alex Rios CF
12 A.J. Pierzynski C
10 Alexei Ramirez SS
23 Mark Teahen 3B

By the way, it's raining in Cleveland, albeit lightly at this time. The "Lowe's White Sox Pregame Show" w/the one & only Ranger, is live at Blue Chip Casino at 5:30p on 670 The SCORE & the TOYOTA Chicago White Sox Radio Network, while WCIU 26 The U is scheduled to carry the "WGN Sports on The U" broadcast at 6p.

If anyone ever asks why the Sox play Alexei at SS just remember that play. There are not a lot of SS who make that play.

Here comes the 3-2 loss. This team's starting pitching is bad and this team is just lame.

Things need to turnaround pretty damn quick or this team will be battling for fourth place this year.

That is the definition of a tough loss. Peavy deserved better. They have got to find a way to score runs. 2 runs against Cleveland is just not acceptable.

I'm supposed to go see these fuckheads Friday night. Why? I mean teams are going to lose close ones but seriously this team finds a way every time.

I have a feeling Cleveland will sweep this series.

Things are falling off the tracks pretty quickly. They are already 5 games out, and they have an offense that is struggling to score runs against the Indians. It's early, but the way the way they are playing, the White Sox are going to find themselves 6...7 GB soon.

It won't be much longer before the Ranger takes those calls from angry White Sox fans demanding the firing of hitting coach Greg Walker, and Ranger tries awfully hard to tell these fans the real value of a hitting coach and it falls on deaf ears...

By the way, that Juan Pierre signing in the offseason isn't looking so good following another 0-for-4 afternoon...

I didn't hear any of ozzie's post game interview, but from the few quotes in this article at least he is still entertaining even when the product on the field is not.

Walker? Ozzie's head will be called for shortly.

Awesome Ozzie. Did the hitters tell Peavy to start the 8th after throwing 100+ pitches with a 1 run lead?

Even though Jake Peavy pitched well enough to win this afternoon, he stayed in the game an inning too long. He started the bottom 8th with 104 pitches...Always a red flag for a starting pitcher in this era of pitch counts and Ozzie never likes his starting pitchers to go beyond 125 pitches per game.

No manager likes his starting pitchers to go over 125 pitches except Dusty Baker and my nephew's high school coach.

Or the Peavy signing either at this point.
