Faneca has been released by the Jets. Should the Bears consider signing him?

If he was still good would they have released him?

There is an opening at left guard with word that the much-maligned Frank Omilaye will become the team's new right tackle, which was supposedly where he played with Carolina before signing with the Bears last year. I have a feeling the Bears will pursue Faneca & might get him for a lot less money. I say go for it!

That would be a remarkable amount of talent brought in since last year.

Oh god yes. He can probably be as productive as Ruben Brown was before he got really old.

Until last year with Pace, the Bears have had some good luck with veteran OFF.linemen.
Sign Him! They had Brown,Tait & that veteran guy who jumped ship last year but did an ok job with the Bears. Even Pace might have done a better job if he was at RT all year.

With the emergence of Robert Turner who backed up most of the year at center and Nick Mangold who started, the Jets could dump Faneca and take the cap hit in an uncapped year. Financial move that makes alot of sense. Faneca is still good and would be a great get.

From what I saw he had enough trouble with just 1 guy.
