I thought this was going to be a thread about the supposed return of the USFL.

I heard on the radio this morning that Alabama got 91,000 to watch their Spring game.

Auburn only had 65,000.

I don't know if this makes me sad about my pathetic fan base or happy that it's not as pathetic as 91,000 people showing up for a practice.

It makes me wonder how anybody could ever outrecruit a school that could take a high school kid to their Spring Game and show them 91,000 fans in the middle of April.

Yeah. This is why I simply set my expectations every year of making it to the Motor City Pizza Bowl and being better than Indiana.

I just read that Illinois drew Mr. Reason and about 1,999 of his closest friends for their Spring Game.

Take that Alabama!

Wow, IU drew 5,325 to their spring game. Guess we are the favorites going into the Boob Bowl this fall.

I'd say we only had about 3K. But my kids had an absolute blast. The weather held up too, which made it more fun for the kids.

The big D-Lineman, Niko Mafuli, had a really cute girlfriend. She took a picture of my kids with him. I told her to wait until he gets the NFL contract to start having kids.

I heard my local kid Watkins had a so so game - few great plays but pretty up and down.

Evan Watkins threw more than double the starting QB, Persa. He went only 12-27 with 1 TD and 1 interception for a total of 78 yards. His timing was off on the long ball and he simply flat-out missed some guys that were open in the 10-15 yard range. I'm still optimistic though... our offense is VERY complicated and that timing with the WR comes in time. Frankly, he looked better than Kafka did when he was a RS Frosh. Watkins is a beast at about 6'6" with a nice arm. But he is surprisingly quick. He scampered a 14-yard run along the sideline. He has a ton of upside, IMHO. Backup QB is the most popular guy on the team, and Watkins is no different. Some of the Wildcat faithful think it would be better to start Watkins just because of his height. That's stupid in my opinion, but I agree that I'm really optimistic about our QB spot for the next several years with Watkins and the Floridian, Trevor Siemian (aka Peyton Jr. see pic below)

Justin Siller, who was probably the favorite to be the starting QB last year before getting kicked out of school for a year for academic dishonesty has done what it takes to get back into the university and has been reinstated to the team. He was a promising dual threat QB. He won't be coming back as a QB though since that position is all but filled but will likely end up as a running back or wide receiver who can be used for trick plays too.

It's just good to see someone come back from a major mistake and seemingly learn from it. I'd expect to see him on the field in some format almost immediately because athletically he's one of the best things Purdue has for next year.

From Robert DeMoss to Robert Marve the chain remains unbroken. All hail our own Purdue.

Boiler up! CHOO CHOO. Boiler up! CHOO CHOO.

I totally agree with what you said on Siller. Guy paid his dues and I'm glad he's getting a second shot.
