So Spurs-Suns again....

I think a few of these 2nd round matchups are going to be really fun...I'm not sure why everyone is dismissing the Celtics against the Cavs...I mean I do think the Cavs will win but I think it will be a long series, despite the age of the C's I think they will be a tough out. Spurs-Suns should be fun too.

obviously if Orlando ends up playing the Bucks that's going to be a horrible series as far as entertainment value. Lakers-Jazz doesn't really hold much appeal to me either. I'd rather see Lakers-Nuggets but even that doesn't sound too interesting either. I suppose looking ahead Lakers-Suns or Lakers-Spurs should be pretty good.

I agree with all of this except Lakers-Jazz. That series would thrill me. I thought the Jazz would win before the playoffs started, but losing Okur hurts. Still D-will is a monster and they still have some size/length to contest the Lakers. Also it's been proven the past few years Phil doesnt start coaching untill they lose a couple games and draw headlines. Thats a mistake against this Jazz team.

I agree with the Celts/Cavs. That'll be good. I liked what Kenny Smith said about them being the only team in the East, and maybe the NBA, that still carry that swagger about them that they are the best and will play like it when it's time, and it's time now. It took an all time great performance by a great player to barely hold off a sweep. I think the series goes 7, I just dont think they'll be able to take out the Cavs on the road in Game 7.

Spurs Suns will be great. I think it'll be alot different than years past. You can just tell Duncan has declined. I thought I might see a special performance from him last night in the first few minutes, he came out with alot of intensity and he had "that look". But you can tell he just cant get the stroke on his jumpers and struggles to get everything he does offensively now. As someone rooting for the Spurs, I'm terrified of Jason Richardson. If he's on, the Suns are deadly. I still think the Spurs can ugly up the game enough to win in 6 or 7.

so much for that

don't ever say i don't give credit where credit is due: Dirk has come up pretty big in this game so far, i can't believe he's been playing this long w/ 4 fouls

I agree. The calls were good calls, but they were petty. And Dirk played big. And I was terrified of Beoubois. He is ridiculously fast. But yeah, I'll give Dirk props. He certainly didn't go out like a bitch like I thought was happening the first 20 minutes of the game.

The Bucks outscored the Hawks in 2 quarters and tied them in another. The 3rd quarter killed them.

I hate that the Lakers/Thunder and Jazz/Nuggets is on at the same time, I want to watch both these games. :?

So who had Nenad Kristic as the Thunder leading scorer halfway through the 2nd?

I originally had this as a throwaway series but it's turned out to be the best series of the first round.

So... if we could get this Carlos Boozer... that'd be awesome. He's the best PF in the playoffs right now by a wide margin. It's unbelievable how well he's playing. I cant wait for Jazz/Lakers.

Anyone else enjoy Hubie Brown priasing both teams offensive intensity last night with a minute left in the game and the score 73-64?

Damn good game so far. Jazz lead by 3 right now, I would LOVE for the Jazz to win on the road.

not really taking anything from that series except that it's over

really not confident the Hawks will take more than 1 from the Magic. I think they'll win one of the 2 home games as the underdog usually does, but I can't see them taking one in Orlando. A lot of things have to go right for them to have a chance i think- magic 3pt shooters have to miss, Hawks frontline cannot get into foul trouble and has to stay on the court, they cannot allow offensive rebounds...it's going to be a tall order.

i suppose at the very least i get to see 4 more Hawks games so that's good; i'm not sure i'd be able to watch the playoffs had they lost to the Bucks. however speaking of the Bucks i think they are gonna have a pretty solid team for awhile. depending somewhat on how FA shakes out (could render Miami or Toronto to the basement), I think the Bucks should have a hold on a 5-8 seed..I think they could win a first round series. You consider they didn't have Bogut but also Redd....i am thinking if you're starting 5 is jennings, redd, salmons, bah moute/thomas, bogut - that's a pretty good starting 5, really only weak spot is PF. with delfino, illaysova, ridnour off the bench that's not a bad bench either. obviously they couldn't hit any outside shots and couldn't really get to the foul line which is pretty much what bogut and redd do. i don't think they have a title contending team as constructed now but w/ bogut and redd i think they would have beaten the Hawks and with exception of Cavs and Magic could probably beat most of the east. i'd like to see them at full strength for once, that's redd's big problem

I would be shocked if Redd ever touches the floor for this team again. They are going to have a very interesting off season as they have a lot of free agents. It will also be interesting to see if anybody wants the expiring contracts of Redd or Gadzuric. It was a good year for them as I think the total in Vegas for the Bucks was around 27. At least it looks like the arrow is finally pointing up.

Not sure what they are going to do with Redd. If they had a healthy Redd or someone of his caliber along with Bogut and an improving Jennings I think this team can be pretty competitive next season, even if with the top four teams in the East.

I don't know if this has been talked about but this came from the sports guy. Sorry Mavs fans.

Danny Crawford
Just the facts according to our guy Alok Pattani. Starting with the 2001 playoffs:

A. The Mavs are 2-16 in playoff games officiated by Crawford since 2001 (including Game 3 of the Spurs series, a loss) ... and 46-39 in all other playoff games. They won their first 2001 playoff game with him (Game 5 versus Utah), so they've lost 15 of the past 16.

B. Against the spread, the Mavs are 4-14 with Crawford officiating ... and 45-40 in all other playoff games.

C. They averaged 21.9 free throws in the Crawford games; 27.1 free throws in the non-Crawford games.

I have a question, with the stuff coming out about Karl now, is he done coaching and are we going to say good bye to him soon.

It is reported, he had a blood clot yesterday.

I don't believe it's sinister but I think there is something there more than just randomness.

It could be something as simple as he has tendencies that hurt the Mavs or that other teams are smarter in knowing how he will call games.

2-16 with games officiated by him is the big statistic there I think. If they go 9-9 instead(near the average with all other refs) and they may be looking at a different history.

ok.....yes i'm sure he has tendencies just as i'm sure other refs have other tendencies. not sure what your point is. yes, if some things go differently they are looking at a different history. if MJ misses just one shot maybe the Cavs have a different history. not sure what the point in bring it up is.....

i read donaghy's book
i'm not opposed to conspiracy theories i just don't know where this one is headed and seems pretty weak. ooohh, a 5 FT discrepancy. the course of the world has been altered!!!

So you aren't surprised that they are 2-16 with him as a ref in the playoffs but have a winning record in all other playoff games?

It's either really bad luck or there is some other explanation. I'm not a big enough fan of the Mavs to know the exact circumstances behind the losses.
