Paramount has passed on a possible sequel for "Anchorman 2", a publicized sequel that Adam McKay is pissed about them passing on.

Personally, I'm glad. It doesn't need a sequel, and I don't see how it could even come close to the original as far as being funny.

On top of that, the freshness of Carrell, Farrell, Rudd, and Co. has worn thin through the years, and 6 years later...I think they induce eye-rolling more than gleeful anticipation.

This is very good news. I love Anchorman and I'm pretty sure this would have been bad.

We're better off without a sequel. To me, Anchorman is the greatest movie ever, so a sequel couldn't be anything but a letdown.

It was a no win. Even if it was kinda good that would ensure a third one, with like 1 original character that would be historically bad.

Coming strictly from a creative standpoint, I could see passing on this sequel.

But I can't believe the studio would pass on it. Whether it sucks or not, you could pretty much guarantee it would make a boatload of money.

Maybe they thought getting the cast would be too expensive but I doubt the studio is passing for creative reasons.

With some of the shit the studios put out, I find it hard to believe it is because of creative concerns.

I have never seen Anchorman.

yeah where these guys have ended up in the last 6 years, this would at least be a $100 million dollar project. they probably couldn't guarantee the projections would warrant the release.

They should just have the Family Guy writers do the sequel. Those guys could make it into a 4-hour musical with a Broadway run after the theatre release.

Sequels to great movies are like Sex Panther.
