I wouldn't be shocked if Gordon Beckham sits tonight, weather permitting, and perhaps tomorrow night vs. Toronto. It's not just the sinking batting average, but Gordon booted 2 balls at second base in last night's 2-0 loss to the Blue Jays. It appears to be as if #15 is pressing too much at the plate and Ozzie should move Beckham back down in the lineup when he starts again. If I'm not mistaken, Beckham was really productive when he was batting 7th or 8th in Ozzie's lineup a year ago. I posted that on my Facebook page last night.

Apparently the "Book" on him is to throw him high fastballs. Pretty much right at the letters, looks tempting, but few can turn that around with authority. He needs to keep taking the letter high ones, any mistakes creep down into the zone, he needs to start driving those to the gap in right center.

The move to 2B was a mistake IF the move was being made because they acquired a true power hitting corner guy, I could understand that, but they moved him for Career .258 / 10 HR Teehan! Which they already had that player in Mark Kotsay!

Gordon Beckham will play in the All Star Game at least seven times in his career and may win a MVP award.

Not sure about MVP, the voting for that favors power. I do think he'll go to multiple all star games.

The Beckham doesn't like playing in Chicago. Ozzie will find a way to take Beckham with him to Atlanta next season.

The White Sox feel he's best suited defensively at 2B in the future - I don't argue with moving him there right away. Teehan may not be the answer at 3B, but that wouldn't have stopped me from moving Beckham to 2B.

Guys, Gordon Beckham should've been at second base from the getgo. Even though Chris Getz, now with Kansas City, technically won the job over Beckham & Jayson Nix in Spring Training a year ago, Beckham was already very comfortable playing second base and has already made no secret that he feels better defensively there than he ever was at third base when recalled last June. Beckham was sent to the minors a year ago because of the business of Bud Selig's Major League Baseball.

The only reason why Beckham played third base was because they had two other guys who sucked there before the Sox made the trade for Mark Teahen last winter. Joshua Fields, who was quite a strikeout machine at the plate before joining Getz in Royals' colors, and Wilson Betemit (remember him, Sox fans?) kept booting the baseball in limited action. As for Nix, while he's supposed to be a good defensive second baseman, I think the ONLY reason why he's even on this roster is to give Teahen a breather vs. lefties at third base.

He'll be fine. I would move him to the bottom 3rd to take the pressure off a bit. He'll end up being the number 3 hitter for ten plus years.

Last season, they had a gaping hole at 3B, and they needed a spot for Beckham.

Bacon's numbers through about a year and a half are very Kevin Orie-like.

You have to worry that it's in his head now which it seems to be.

Beckham grew up and played his college baseball in the hot and humid South. His bat will warm up when the temperature does. And then the White Sox will realize that they need to move him to a warm weather franchise.

Currently batting under .200 What do you do with him? Do you just keep putting him out there and hope he works through it? Do you consider sending him down to AAA to see if he can work through some things?

RFDC, Gordon Beckham's here to stay, especially because the options are non-existent. Omar Vizquel's BA isn't much better, and is even more painful to watch than Beckham at the plate. Jayson Nix's only on this roster as Mark Teahen's backup at third base vs. lefties, and Teahen's been awful himself since the trade that sent Chris Getz & Joshua Fields to Kansas City in the offseason. Also, C.J. Retherford & Brent Lillibridge (remember him, White Sox fans?) aren't hitting squat at Triple "A" Charlotte. That said, Beckham's a big part of this team's future, even if the present isn't too good.

Actually, Lillibridge is hitting .269 with 13 SB....Flowers is hitting .267 with 8 HR and 26 RBI. Danks (.237) is struggling.

I wouldn't be opposed to bringing Flowers up and DHing him. Lillibridge is a Triple A talent so Nix/Vizquel would have to platoon at 2B if they sent Beckham down, which I don't think they will do unless he goes hitless for a week or two straight.

Something does need to change with this lineup though.

I think limiting the ABs of Kotsay and Vizquel as much as possible is a good place to start.

Agreed. Vizquel's role should be strictly as a backup IF, playing late inning defense and maybe an occasional start, and Kotsay as a pinch-hitter who also only gets an occasional start. Unfortunately, Kotsay, in particular, has been a somewhat regular part of the lineup, and is often batting 5th.

Keyser, what is your opinion on what do you do with Beckham? Do you just keep putting him out there or what?

Yeah I see that point, I guess I just worry that you risk messing with the kid mentally if he just keeps struggling. Perhaps it might be better for him to go to AAA for a few weeks and get his MOJO back and come back and be the player everyone thinks he can and will be.
