US network drops axe on Heroes

NBC has cancelled its superhero drama Heroes after four seasons.

There had been speculation that the network was considering bringing back the show to wrap up story lines, but instead the network has pulled in the plug, according to Variety magazine.

The show gained a strong following in its first season in 2006 but its 6.5 million viewers this year was down 29 percent from last year’s 9.2 million, Variety reported.

This show started off great, but was unable to sustain it's momentum past the first season. Critics praised the show as the antithesis of Lost. They pointed to Heroes as how tow tell a serialized drama, doling out answers to the mythological questions nearly every episode. But I thnk that was the downfall of the show. They gave away everything in the first season and were constantly chasing that edge of your seat feeling season one generated.

Once the focus of the show shifted away from the hottie in the cheerleading outfit, I lost interest.

While the show certainly went downhill after the first season, I'm surprised they aren't even giving them a few shows to wrap everything up. Oh well.

Sucks but I guess it's the right decision and only way to keep from watching it. The 1st season was great and the 2nd wasn't too bad but damn it went downhill really fast. I'm not sure where the writers were goin with the show but it lost direction. I do wish they would've had a chance to finish the series. These kinds of series like LOST and Heroes should be mini-series in the 1st place.

This was a no brainer. As one who suffered through every episode and probably would've done it again next year I thank NBC for putting me out of my misery. This last season was ridiculously bad.

Good riddance. Nomination accepted.

It's long overdue by NBC that "Heroes" will soon be no more. Besides ratings dropping in the last 2 seasons, "Heroes" was a hard show to follow. Producers did a great job confusing the hell out of everybody after what appeared to be a promising first season!

Mr. Reason, are you aware Hayden Paneittere recently cut her hair?

SHARK, up until now, I wasn't aware of Hayden Paneittere, period.

EDIT: Perhaps, the haircut is the reason for the cameltoe...thanks, SHARK.

The last season of heroes was kind of bad. The others were okay, especially the first two. I thought this show was on for much longer than 4 seasons, though. R.I.P.

Her knees were visible in those pictures? I had no idea.
