i was shocked when mashburn said he had a triple double. this is a great example of the stat sheet not telling the whole story. except...it does read that he had 9 turnovers.

Lebron almost had a quadruple double. He finished the game with 9 turnovers.

beyond lebron quitting, I can't believe they gave up with a minute or so to go. It was only 9, right? a minute is a ton of time, extend the game. and varajeo taking that 3 was just cringe worthy. i can't believe he did that. what a joke

They just gave up down the stretch, which was really pathetic. Van Gundy was really ripping them for it too. The game was probably over, but you can't pack it in at that point of the game. Reggie Miller scored 8 points in like 9 seconds once, crazy shit can happen.

there was no way that cavs team had a spark. after the 4 point deficit went back to 9 points, they gave up.

mike brown didn't even call them out on it in the post game interview. he said they fought hard. give me a break.

if i'm a cavs fan i would just feel empty, especially with knowing that there's a good chance lebron leaves; and then what's left to root for in cleveland? they were the only team that gave that town hope.

i don't really care about cleveland the city i mean who cares if they have a team to root for or not

but just wondering where the blame lies here. did mike brown direct them to not foul? i saw lebron making some kind of hand gestures...was he the one that conceded? i'm not going to be meatball and say i don't want lebron here because of course I do anyone that doesn't is an idiot. but there is something very unsettling and disturbing about the last 2 games and it's hard to figure where to point the blame. i know when they spoke to Garnett afterward and asked him what he told lebron he said he told him i've been there, etc. thing is despite how many times the Wolves got ousted in the first round, i never saw a lackluster effort from Garnett, or Flip Saunders or really any of them.

oh, and reading ESPN's daily dime, i think Chris Sheridan was the one that said lebron is coming to Chicago...but reading this article especially this

Quote:
Yes, James would have to play the next several years in the shadow of Michael Jordan, but the generation that is as old or younger than James (25) has more vivid memories of Jordan as a Wizard, or as owner of the Bobcats, than they do of him winning six titles for the Bulls.

what a fucking moron. trying to play the "younger generation doesn't know the history of the game" card, i mean you don't have to have an extensive knowledge of the NBA to know Jordan won six titles for the Bulls...who the fuck remembers him as a Wizard at all except for those in DC???

You're right Bagels.

I mean even in looking at a Kobe Bryant, who has had his share of really bad offensive performances...Kobe is a guy who at LEAST can get to the foul line if his shots aren't falling. Lebron could've and should've been drawing fouls on every touch, just by driving the lane - and he knows it. The guy is 6'9" 270 lbs...he can get to the basket anytime he wants. For some reason he just didn't. Strange game from him. Very strange.

I have mixed feelings about LeBron coming here after watching him quit the way he did. I am really in shock. I would love to hear some great excuse for the reason why he did it. Can you really be the player in the NBA playing like that? I hate quiters but I still want him to come here.

Really? I have no mixed feelings at all, do what they have to do to try to get him here END OF STORY!

Agreed, I still want him here ASAP but as a Lebron fan I am disappointed with what I saw last night.

No I agree with Nas....i think he said what i was trying to say more eloquently....I still want him to come here of course but the last 2 games are just far too disturbing to cast aside. Yes I realize it's only 2 games out of 1000 or whatever but it's not that he just shot poorly, or that Boston made great defensive plays- it's that he straight up quit

and really, out of all the teams mentioned that he could go to, really the bulls *are* the perfect match as far as what he'd have to work with.

the nets are probably second. i highly doubt lebron would waste his time going to the clippers. and the knicks is just a dumb idea.

I agree WZ. Chris Broussard was sayinig the same thing, the pieces he will have here are by far better than anything he would have in either of those cities.

Seems he doesnt deal with adversity well, at least according to the extremely small sample size of actual adversity he has faced.

The whole argument of "Athletes were always the best their whole lives" is multiplied by 100 with LeBron.

Not only was he always the best, he was always so good, he could single handedly win any game he was in.

You now have

The non handshake
The dunked on missing tape
Quitting in the celtics game

Now you can possibly justify each one of those, but seems like its a pattern.

Now with that said, I still want him here.

This league is all about talent and he has it
He can still mature emotionally and mentally

Great point! I was thinking the same thing last night.

I'll have to admit it. I got carried away when the Celtics sent the Cavaliers home and suggested after the game that Bulls' Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf should spend the $$$$ and do whatever it takes to lure Glenn "Doc" Rivers & assistant Tom Thibodeau to Chicago. That being said, ESPN went bent over backwards in "LeBron Watch" on "SportsCenter" after the game. You would think that the "Big Boys in Bristol, CT" would be all over the Celtics' big win to set up a rematch of the last 2 Eastern Conference teams in the NBA Finals Sunday in Orlando, right? Wrong...They were all over James like a hot knife through butter, complete with Jamal Mashburn, Avery Johnson, Stuart Scott, Scott Van Pelt, John Anderson and even reporter George Smith in an empty Quicken Loans Arena.

Even though the Celtics, Magic, Lakers & Suns are the four teams remaining in the NBA title picture this year, a great deal of the talk now won't be focused necessarily on head coach Phil Jackson's possible 11th NBA Championship and perhaps his last in Los Angeles, let alone another title for Kobe Bryant. It's where LeBron could end up...

It's unfortunate, but that's exactly what happened. Never thought I'd see it from him. A guy like Nowitzki? Yes. But not Lebron effin James. I don't know what happened tonight but it didn't look right to me.

I've been trying to tell you guys he's not a winner.

I'd also like to give a little NBA shoutout to Nash for his subtle dig at Phil. When Phil said he couldnt simulate playing against Nash because noone on his team can carry the ball like Nash does, Nash responded by saying that he just finished a series "against the best coach in the league, Gregg Poppovich, and he didn't say anything about me carrying". That was good. Most players wont play Phil's little mind games against him. Younger guys like Durant just get all upset about it.

Don't let the 92-88 Celtics' road win fool you in Game 1 yesterday in Orlando. The C's actually led the Magic by as much as 20 points before Orlando made quite a run late. The defense on Dwight Howard was impressive, holding the Orlando big man to 13 points on only 3/10 shooting with 12 rebounds. It also helped that Ray Allen had 25 to lead the way for Boston in stealing away home court advantage in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Kobe has that look in his eye and that bounce in his step. Shannon Brown is jumping over dudes heads too.

Yeah Kobe came to play. I like how in general('08 being a notable exception) Kobe plays better as the postseason goes on. He's made to play in big games. Odom was also unbelievable. If he plays like that every night there's no reason the Lakers should lose another game. Unfortunately he's gonna have a bunch of 8 and 6 games still.

Lakers need to sweep so Kobe can rest. If not it will make it that much tougher for the Lakers in the Finals.

Agreed. He's a hell of a post defender.

Also I'm loving me some Tony Allen this spring. Never in a million years did I think he would become the James Posey of the 2010 team.

yeah i don't think Perkins is a top 5 center or anything but he might be top 10....ask Atlanta if they wouldn't have liked to have someone like that to defend Howard
