White Sox fans tend to stay away in droves when the team stinks up the joint. Right now, not even Gordon Beckham, Alex Rios & tonight's starter Jake Peavy are worthy of me wanting to spend the $$$$ to go out to a game at U.S. Cellular Field. Guess what? The way this season is going, there will be plenty of good seats available to see a Sox team that may not win 70 games this season!

Sox fans really got unlucky with The Cell. Starting with Camden, every new stadium has been a modern yet metro park with character and tourist appeal. The Cell is really on a lot of ways the last of the shitty, nondescript cookie cutter ballparks.

I'm starting to think the White Sox need to stockpile their farm system big time with guys who can not only hit, but can field, too...Former MLB manager Buddy Bell's currently the man running the Sox minor league system, and the Sox are light years behind the Twins and other teams who have guys who help their teams right away when they're recalled. All those who think struggling second baseman Gordon Beckham should refine his swing at Triple "A" Charlotte, after seeing what the likes of C.J. Retherford & Brent Lillibridge are currently doing down on the farm, the Sox might have to bite the bullet and keep Beckham here for the long haul until Retherford & Lillibridge, for examples, are ready...That might be quite awhile...

There's nothing wrong with that ballpark. It's a place where a team plays. That's all. The fetishization of ballparks is a relatively new phenomenon.

I agree. If it weren't for the Sox fans and their shitty team, it would be a great place to watch a game.

IB, "Unlucky" is a bad word to use here. "Dumb" is better. The staidum design plays into marketing of which is where Jerry Reinsdorf has about as much skill as BP in that arena.

Jerry, his son, his construction people, etc all designed that place themselves. Basically they learned how to build a stadium on our dime and then went out and charged other people to build stadiums.

International Facilities Group. Basically they leverage Jerrys power and get contracts to build stadiums.

My favorite is the recent one. It is similar to what Jerry tried to pull in Washington. First his son creates the bidders package, and gets paid for it, then they bid on the project that they just created the bidders package for. LOL.....Google Up ED SMITH STAIDUM down in Florida. My peeps told me about this one last week,
