I know this sounds like a meatball question but from what I am seeing from this "dirtbag" is nothing but shit outings. He's already given up four runs tonight from which the Sox will not come back from.

Did he benefit from pitching in the NL and now is being exposed as a flamethrower with no location?

I don't know why I am still following this team this year but I am.

For talking all that "we need to beat the teams we are supposed to" he's really looking like a pud tonight.

Darkside, I think since PETCO Park opened a couple years ago for the San Diego Padres, it's been one of the most difficult ballparks for teams to hit homers & Jake Peavy definitely seemed to benefit. Because U.S. Cellular Field is currently one of the easier ballparks in Bud Selig's Major League Baseball to hit a homer, thanks to the shorter fences and the Sox bullpen now widened, I remember there were many talking heads both locally & nationally that thought Peavy's E.R.A. would be a run or so higher in the American League than in the National League prior to the big trade a year ago.

With that in mind, I remember another pitcher, former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, now with ESPN Radio, recently say that Javy Vazquez, currently in the Yankees' bullpen, "is not an American League pitcher." Vazquez was pretty good for the Atlanta Braves last season, but has been awful since getting dealt to the Bronx for a second tour of duty in the offseason...

As for whether or not Jake Peavy is a bust, I'm not so sure he is...yet.

SHARK says he's "lurking below the surface", but sometimes he goes very deep...

What's wrong with goin' deep? I don't think it's an accident that Jake Peavy's been scuffling for the White Sox.

It really doesn't seem to matter where Peavy pitches. He has not been good and obviously he didn't listen to his own pep talk.

Even if Peavy was 5-1 with a 2.00 ERA the Sox would still likely be under .500, or maybe right at .500

It's too early in his time here to call him a bust. Still the guy has lost like 3 times this year to the Indians.

Obviously, it's tough to overcome a lineup that can't hit, but he's been a bust this season. The starting rotation from the White Sox was expected to be their strength, and Peavy (amongst others) just hasn't gotten on track this season.

with his poor performance thus far, I am just stunned & amazed he did not somehow end up with the Cubs. This has cub-like written all over it. (I am a cubs fan)

Maybe it is the AL, but to me it looks like he wouldn't be doing a whole hell of a lot better on the north side of town either. Something is amiss. Heard is sound bite after the game saying he was going to get treatment to put "life" back into his arm. That doesn't sound right.

This is true, but it should only be twice. Ozzie fucked up the the 1st time in Cleveland and let him go out there when he was gassed.

I know for a fact that San Diego was seriously concerned about his shoulder.

Sun-Times/SCORE White Sox Insider Joe Cowley dropped hints during the "Lowe's Pregame Show" today with the Ranger that there may be something wrong physically with Mr. Peavy after getting hit for 6 runs in last night's 7-3 loss to the Indians at (Not So) Progressive Field in Cleveland. He's supposed to start the finale of the current road trip in St. Petersburg, FL vs. the Rays Sunday. This could be a potential storyline in the making.

Thank God you haven't been giving your opinion on sports lately  If Peavy was 5-1 that would give the Sox 2 more wins and 3 less losses do the math tard!

Peavy has anti Reinsdorf written all over it. HUGE Money for a Power Pitcher.

Reinsdorf really let Kenny have the reins on this one

Is Peavy a bust, no. Is there something wrong with him, yes. His velocity is not consistant and what is even worse is that his ball doesn't have that jack-rabbit type movement that it has had when he was going good. He had a slider that would break hard toward the left handers batter's box. I have not seen that pitch at all this year. Maybe, he needs to be sat down to rest his old soupbone.

This is funny....I said all these things when the trade came down and people claimed it was "sour grapes" because the Sox got him rather than the Cubs. I had predicted that his ERA would be at least a full run higher and that with the smaller ballpark and AL hitters, that he would not be the stud Sox fans were anticipating. No surprise to me this is happening. All thats left is his annual trip to the DL for a month or more-which he has taken each of the previous 3 seasons. It was a terrible contract to take on. He's not a bad pitcher. But he's not worthy of the contract he has either.

Jake....Peavy....Blows.

I will answer my own question, yes he is.

Can't get fucking anybody out when it matters, not that the other pitchers on the Sox staff can either.

Game is 3-3 now and the Sox WILL lose.

He's giving up an average of about 1 home run every 10 innings at home. Last year, he was giving up an average of about 1 home run every 12 innings at home. There is no way that you can say that the home ballpark has been anything but a minor part of it. The statistics are clear. He's been significantly worse on the road.

I know people love to analyze the whole "different league/different home ballpark" thing but he's just flat out been bad and he would have been bad in San Diego too. He didn't forget how to play on the plane ride from San Diego.

So go ahead Steve and show me how the ballpark has had anything to do with how bad he's played. You may have a point about the AL hitters but I don't think that can explain more than 2 runs higher of ERA than pretty much any other time in his career.

He may never bee a Cy Young winner here but I predict that he'll eventually return back to a form where he is at a minimum a very good pitcher. If anything, with a short sample size, we are seeing that the home run friendly ball park theory isn't an issue.

It's still May. If he's still giving up 6 runs a game in August we may have a long term problem.

I can't watch anymore. Nix hits a GS and Peavy just starts giving it back. Hey you dead-arm fuck, get on the goddamn DL if you're hurt. Don't sit and fuck around here because you're a competitor.

You haven't had shit for the last 3-4 games. Get it right and stop costing the team wins.

Oh, and Steve. Care to mention what you said about Rios when they got him? I believe it was something about how Toronto was dancing in the streets to have him gone.
