This is the longest thread after a Bears game and of course it comes after a loss. Everyone feeds off negativity. After a win this section only gets a few posts. I can honestly say that the callers to Doug and OB were not as negative as you guys. I respect your opinions but I disagree with your assessment of the Bears team.

I call bullshit. I've had Doug and OB on the entire time after the game and they and the callers have been echoing a lot of the same thoughts we fairweather fans have been. Christ, I think Doug was going down to Soldier Field and bitchslap Lovie and the Bears at one point. I heard three callers question why Griese wasn't called into the game in the third/fourth quarter, and why the hell was Grossman throwing off his back foot.

I think as fans we should all be critically thinking after a loss. When the Bears win 41-10 what is there to question?

Well, at least the Vikings lost.

I think that the bears overlooked this game because they destroyed the 9ners last week and they figured that the fins where even worse than the 9ners so they figured that they could just walk through this game without trying that hard. Also, next week is the biggest game of the year so the bears were focusing on the giants next week rather than focusing on this game.

wrong. from what ive read, nobody is throwing in the towel. we're just pointing out the things that we're seeing our team do, and if they continue to do these they will lose more than they win.

you're also viewing this entire game thru 'sun tinted glasses.' sure, its just 1 game, but what we're pointing out is that the bears are LUCKY that loss one came this late in the year.

I'm watching the Pats/Colts game right now and the Bears aren't in the same league as these guys.

Grossman will be on his back all game when they visit the Pats.

Shit, I don't even think they'll score more than a tuddy.

Bears better do some learnin' real fuckin fast.

I really wish they would just play Benson. I just can't stand watching Jones anymore. He's always leaving his feet and not delivering the blow. Every time Benson gets the ball he just looks more explosive. Rex was terrible today, but so was the ofeensive line and the WR's. Oh my. WHat happened to Bradley? Gauge was terrible... And Hester, holy shit.

The Minnesota game was just "one game." The Arizona game was just "one game." Now, the Miami game is just "one game."

So any time the Bears play poorly and somehow manage to eek out a win, or play shitty and actually lose, it will always be "one game?"

Let's hope we don't see any more "one" games.

Are we watching the same game? What are they doing that puts them in another league?

Nas, take the blue and orange colored glasses off. Peyton and Tom Brady are twice the QB Grossman is. Peyton is by far the best QB in the league.

I hope you don't spill your Bears Kool-Aid on your keyboard.

When the Bears lose at the Giants will you admit how wrong you are?

i would like to ask ron turner why he's forgotten about the middle of the field.....
what happened to the TE?
nice on the quick out routes in the 1st Q.....but, where did they go after that?
nice to see Ced running hard and at 4+ ypc.

please....please....please....throw to the middle of the field.
enough of this outside-route 20 yard passes on 2nd and 8.

Do you watch football? Neither one of these teams have a top 10 defense. The Patriots almost lost to the Bills (won by 2 points) at home. This is the same team the Bears beat by 40. They almost lost to the Jets too. Look at their schedule and tell me what win impresses you.

The Colts have a terrible defense and have struggled to beat some bad teams too. They beat the Titan and Jets by a combined 4 points. Are they overrated? No. Any team can be beaten or have a bad game.

Yes I watch football.

Good teams don't lose to bad teams by playing down to their level.

If you think for one minute that the Bears are better than the Colts and the Pats, you are nuts.

I know any team CAN be beaten. The Bears got beaten because they made stupid plays, dropped catchable balls, and cannot win games while trailing unless the other team gives it away like the Cardinals and the Vikings.

If the Bears go 2-1 or 3-0 on their East Coast swing, I will gladly STFU. My days of doubting will be over.

If they go 0-3 or 1-2, you owe the fairweather fans an apology.

I don't know what is making me more queasy, reading this thread or listening to Madden & Michaels talk about the Sunday night quarterbacks.

All right.

Thanks for the spirited discussions by all.
Nas, let's see what happens next week and go from there.

G'night to all.

Not overrated but the same arguments are being made and it seems like a big circle jerk.

I agree with the thoughts on Benson. He shut his mouth this week and came to play. He was running with fire, hitting holes and really attacking the defenders. I hope he showed Turner enough to continue to grow his role in the offense.

I think Bradley is still out with the knee injury - he's never fully recovered.

Every great quarterback had to go through them. He hasn't been as bad a most.

EVERY GREAT QUARTERBACK? You have got to be kidding me right? Favre, Manning and Brady are names I would currently accept the "great" adjective placed in front of, but not a guy who has now started 16 games in his career.

I didn't see the game, so have no comment about what happened. But I did post something this morning (in the wagering thread) about what I observed from afar over the weekend before the game. As I noted this morning, even the slightest bit of look-ahead will get you beat in the NFL. I think there was something of that today. I saw Grossman on TV last night in an interview talking about the Giants defense. WTF is that? I'm not saying the media had any effect on the Bears' performance, because it is the Bears' players' responsibilty to stay focused on each week's opponent. If a media guy asks them about an opponent that isn't the next one on the schedule, the players should have a responsibility to say no comment and move on. They can't allow themselves even the slightest bit of distraction away from this week's opponent. Grossman was nice to the media and responded to several questions about the Giants in various interviews. Rookie mistake. I could argue he talked so much about the Giants (even if it was just a few interviews) that his head wasn't into Miami. The results certainly beg the question anyway.

I laugh whenever I hear this crap. Players say oh yes, we lost and we saw it coming. BS. If he saw a let down coming, why didn't he say it before the game to the team? When he heard Rex talking in interviews about the Giants, why didn't someone butt in and say STFU Rex...we're playing MIAMI. If the team wasn't practicing with total focus, then do something about it. Talk about taking responsibility. Sounds like Tommie Harris observes but doesn't act. Some team mate. If you see something wrong with your team's mental focus, then freaking act on it. Don't tell the media how freaking prescient you were after you lose. Sounds like a bunch of crap to me. Either that, or Tommie Harris has zero leadership ability.

It's probably not the wisest idea to be negative about your chances for success before the game; I'm sure when a player gets a bad feeling about a game, he keeps it to himself.

I disagree, Matt. If you feel that your team is not practicing properly or keeping its focus, it's your responsibility to get it back on track. Teams have "team meetings" when team leaders see this stuff happening....but the good teams don't wait until after losses to have them. To me, this is a sign of a lack of leadership. If Harris saw a let down, then others did too. And nobody called a team meeting to address it? Not a good sign.
