So I'm a Mac ALSer, and I like Speigs for the most part too. But after podcasting this, I am blown away. I can not believe Meatpants ACTUALLY did this. This goes down as one of the silliest things I have ever heard on a radio show. Is he serious? Giving Beckham hitting advice? I can't believe it... I really can't. I tuned in to the podcast half-expecting this to be a little blown out of proportion, but it really isn't. Not one bit. This was completely absurd. Just thinking about this makes me feel really icky.

This is one of those things I won't ever forget.

It wasnt the first time. He's had some encouraging words for Beckham before.
If its available, I think he did it the week of april 19-23rd, whichever day ROY is on.

Did Speigs just mention someone posting with a Salo's Ruptured Testicle moniker?

Yep.

That's all I heard. What was he talking about?

Spiegs was talking about calling in as yourself and not hiding behind a moniker such as Salo's Ruptured Testicle.

Someone was using that moniker or he just used it as an example?

I thought W2's were now the gold standard.

Good to hear Speigs got a talking to about him telling a professional baseball player how to do his job. Now if they can stop talking to him like he's a 5 year old whose goldfish just died I may not have to PTFB during my favorite baseball players weekly segment.

Mully and Hanley should worry about their own sorry-ass interviews, namely Don "Captain Red Ass" Cooper. Every week its the same interview:

Question 1 (the Softball segment): Don, Peavy/Buerhle/Danks/Floyd/Garcia pitched really great. Oh yeah, he did. Blah Blah Blah Blah.

Question 2 (the Provocation): Don, what's wrong with Peavy/Buehrle/Danks/Floyd/Garcia? God damn it, the evil media is creating all this negativity, blah, blah, blah, blah.

GOOD STUFF, Mully. Yes, Indeed, my giddy aunt.

Just so you know, last year after asking some decent questions and Cooper giving them the prick answer back, Hanley fired back pretty hard on Coop, basically telling him that if we dont know anything and the results stink, why dont you explain to us what is wrong instead of telling us that we dont know anything.

Cooper, then became semi normal and stopped his laughing them. Cooper is just another guy who without baseball is taking the garbage out at McD's after Ozzie cleaned up the tables.

I think maybe the larger point is that regular interviews with current players/managers/coaches are pointless. The 2 regular ones I listen to are Beckham and Cooper and there is nothing said worth a damn. They can't say anything controversial because the team will get pissed at them, so its just the whole Bull Durham take one for the team babble. Cooper is still a red ass EVERY SHOW. Beckham is such a nice kid its brutal to listen to him try to find answers to his hitting problems and the Sox problems in general. Pointless and bad radio.
