Ughh, NBC again, doing interviews and the reactions in bars as if this was a playoff game or something. A big game, but jeez, act like you've been there before Chicago

In fairness, this game was billed as a huge game both locally and nationally. This game determined who is the top seed in the NFC for the moment. Plus, the local news never has enough filler and almost always does the bar reaction thing.

To add on to your post. The Bears basically have a 3 game lead on home field throughout the playoffs now over both Seattle and the Giants since they have the tiebreaker. New Orleans has the same record so they have a 2 game lead over them. If the Bears had lost, they would have basically been tied with the Giants for home field. It's not the playoffs, but it is a huge win.

Edit: Actually, by my logic, the Giants would have been up 1 game since they would have the tiebreaker.

This has nothing to do with the game, but, damn, Paula Faris is hot.

You're damn right! She bears a striking resembalance to equally hot porn star Stephanie Swift.

Ha, funny timing. I read your post, then went back to my tv right as NBC shot it to her interviewing Robby Gould. Yep, still hot. I don't know if I've ever seen her before, but I felt she was hot enough to get a mention on these boards. I've got to check out 'ole isohunt on the Stephanie Swift deal. ;)

Nas,
I'll always give you your props. You're a pretty damn good prognosticator. But a dose of humility might do you some good. Don't break that arm trying to crown your own ass.

Was it Hester who realized he was inside the 10 and let the ball go (going out at the four)? I think it was and I'm very glad to see he did the right thing. No superhero shit with the game largely in hand. Hester is learning.

But earlier in the game it was inside the 10 and he fielded it and got nothing, he had a few stupid plays in this one

I missed that one. Oops. Obviously a work in progress with Hester. 3TDs in one year with 7 games to go. Those are pretty good numbers, but he does have to cut out the fielding of punts inside the 10.

Did anyone catch the Sports Reporters on ESPN Sunday morning? Bob Ryan basically said that this game was more important to the Bears, which I agreed with.

But then he goes on to say that this game ultimately doesn't matter because he feels the Giants are the better team and will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.

After watching E Manning crap down his pants yesterday, I find that hard to believe.

I respectfully disagree with your exaggerated assessment of Faris' hotness. Good looking, attractive, I can go along with, but words like "damn" and emphasized "hot" blow it out of proportion completely.

You wouldn't say that if you saw her and her beautiful ass in person. "Damn" & "hot" may not do her enough justice.

I know it worked out, but I don't necessarily agree with Hester brining it out of the end zone there. If the Giants just miss the field goal, the Bears get the ball at their own 42. Pretty good field position. If the Giants have any special teams coaching at all and were actually prepared for a 52 yard field goal to come up short, then Harris catches the ball 8 yards deep and takes a knee. They lose 22 yards.
It was the right move with Vasher last year because it was the end of the half. Not so much the case last night because it was in the middle of the third quarter in a tight game.
That being said, did you see Hunter on that play? He looked like Urlacher last year.

And I will also agree that that was Peanut's best game. I don't think he needs to play 7 yards off the line, though. When he got up tight he started playing a lot better.
As for the run D...I was wrong...they definitely miss Mike Brown more than I thought they would. I thought they'd get more out of Todd Johnson/Chris Harris...

I really thought we'd lose so I'm happy with the results of last night's game.

The second half play was way better than the first. That first half the Bears were who Dennis Green thought they were. Whatever adjustments the coaches and players made at halftime worked. Rex's mechanics improved this week also. Despite some suprisingly poor officiating they kept their composure. Good job. I love Hester this week but he continues to make me nervous.

Giants were injured and the coaches made some poor decisions. They could have done better but I won't complain - I'll be happy and quiet with the win.

I was wrong about this. The rule says they get the ball at the original line of scrimmage...so they would have only lost 7 yards. So, it was worth it, and I should just shut the F up.

With a missed field goal, they get the ball at the spot the ball is kicked from. In this case, the 42.
If Hester catches the ball and takes a knee, I THOUGHT the Bears would get the ball at the 20. However, the rule states that on a missed field goal that is caught and downed in the end zone, the ball is placed at the original line of scrimmage (in this case the 34 or 35)...so I was wrong the first time...

This is all I could find regarding FGs:

1. All field goals attempted (kicker) and missed from beyond the 20-yard line will result in the defensive team taking possession of the ball at the spot of the kick. On any field goal attempted and missed where the spot of the kick is on or inside the 20-yard line, ball will revert to defensive team at the 20-yard line.

But, it doesn't address running with a caught, missed FG. If he brought it out and was tackled at the 23 yard line, would they still have gotten it at the original spot of the kick (meaning there was no reason to not try it)?

I got that from an article on ESPN.com about the Vasher/Hester returns...
