Take Idol, America's got no Talent, and all that shit, and incinerate anyone associated with them.

Hmmm..."The Gong Show" featuring an always wasted Chuck Barris as host and executive producer, along with Jamie Farr from "M*A*S*H" at the time, Jaye P. Morgan & Arte Johnson as "judges"...I'm surprised GSN, DIRECTV 309, doesn't air this classic, cutting-edge at the time spoof of talent shows, circa 1976...

Hey, old guys! There's always been shitty TV: The Brady Bunch, T.J. Hooker, and Knight Rider are just a few examples.

Yes, but there's such a dearth of anything as pure (and/or arguably puerile) as The Gong Show.

On a side note, the shows mentioned are making very healthy syndication money .... I doubt in 30 years we'll see such winning shows as "The O.C." or any of the faggoty vampire shows.

i.e., Count Fagula = good ... The Vampire Diaries = shit.

So what you're saying is that there was never really a time when tv was actually worth watching?

   :bom:

It's a shame that you can't get away with stuff like that on network tv.

The shame of everything is that kids today have no understanding of how funny Looney Toons are.

Colonel, the original "Knight Rider" had a cool theme and a cool Pontiac TransAm back in the '80s. They NEVER should have made an updated version of the action series, complete with a Ford Mustang!

Yeah, the car and theme music was cool, but the "lead" is a complete tool.

I just bought season 1 and 2 of this fine show. I think I was 3 when it originally started airing, but I got the fever from some reruns a few years back.

Let's just say, you had to be a kid to appreciate either Knight Rider. I wasn't, and I didn't. But I enjoyed cringe-worthy shows of my era...

Personally, I was partial to The A-Team

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but it was "must see TV" :eye: for me when Cheers and Night Court were on back to back in the 80's.

By the way, can any guy (or girl maybe?) actually say that he/she hasn't rubbed one out to Markie Post back in the day? :D

Centric, DIRECTV 330, now airs the original "A Team" weekdays at 6a & 8p. If you have WMEU 48, the Weigel-owned independent known as MeTOO, you can find reruns at 4p weekdays as well.

If I had not read who started the OP, I would have sworn it was Jimmymeatball.

Only he could appreciate my newest DVR pain ..... I started a series recording of Rockford Files, and such as my luck goes, it went from daily M-F to only on Sundays ... shit.

"This is Jim Rockford. At the tone, leave your name & message." (BEEP) Every single episode of "The Rockford Files" started with that answering machine message from 1974-80.

That Stephen J. Cannell production hasn't aired ANYWHERE since USA Network aired reruns of it in the late '80s...

A television series you should see "if you choose to take this assignment"(?) is Mission Impossible. I thought it a far superior show to A-Team from a few years earlier.

For the same period MacMillan and Wife, and McCloud were pretty decent mystery shows.
